hi all,
bought a rns 510 unit off ebay and fitted it today easily enough and mounted the antenna behind it with some electric tape.
However to begin with the unit wouldnt budge from an eastern european country but half an hour later locked onto my position, but it is behind my actual position and not as accurate as it should be, say 100 yards or so. will this 'fix itself' over time?
Any ideas about this?
Another thing, i tried to route myself home from my girlfriends which is pretty much a straight route home, but it was taking me well out of the normal route. and i mean well outside taking me all the way aroind the world. the "avoid motorways" etc where not selected or anything?

sorry to be exhaustive but another question, is the heated seats and climate controlable through the unit? i saw somewhere it was?
rns 510 retrofit problems please help
Re: rns 510 retrofit problems please help
not controllable as such iirc the temperatures just show up on the radio screen when you set them but this information is still available on the climate unit on or around the dials as it has to go in cars that don't have LCD screens (as per B0rks comment here) pic of it functioning with settings on screen hereHughesy88 wrote:sorry to be exhaustive but another question, is the heated seats and climate controlable through the unit? i saw somewhere it was?

What version unit do you have ?, what map versions are on it ?,, when in nav mode press map and see how many satellites the unit is seeing ?, as for the climate etc do you have the new climate panel like mine posted below, if so can you see this on the headunit ?, PS you cant control either through the headunit, it purely displays what the climate or the heated seats are doing

here is the display of the climate on the screen (whilst i was installing)

What is the little round thing between the Auto and AC button? above the two blanks?

I'm not sure it is actually anything, it's deffinately not a button but it's possibly a sensor of some sort or just a bit of a design

If its like other S's, its the AirCon system temp sensor for the cabin air temperature.

On the back of the RNS510 where the nav aerial plugs into, look down the plug and there should be a thin centre pin in the middle,if this is snapped off then it would do what you are describing well the first part of it when it was stuck on an eastern european country.
