Music Transfer to Cars Hard Drive?

Hi to all. Is it possible to transfer music onto the hard drive in any other way apart from CD/DVD drive?
At the moment, I have to burn any music I want onto a cd first and then load it into the system. This is a pain!
I have tried a memory stick and my mobile phone via the usb input, both are recognised by the cars system and will play happily, but will NOT give me the icon to input to the hard drive from these sources.

Any ideas, getting tired of burning cd’s and just tend to play everything off my memory stick now, kind of defeats the idea of an onboard hard drive.

Hi

You are right - can't be done from a USB pen. The way i did it was via SD card - but beware the head unit can only read a 2GB card...

It's a bit slow, to copy fromt eh SD card to HD, but worth the effort. you can do the copying on the move while listening to another folder or to an MDI input. I have got about 12 GB of music on the hard drive. Would advise folders with the music type in the root (I have Jazz, Rock, Instrumental, Classical etc) otherwisew you end up with ahuge number of folders to scroll through! I have also got an old iPoD mini (4GB) in the MDI slot and that's great for podcats and also for getting your own playlists on. I find the system works well for me, I use the HDD if I know what i want to listen to and the iPod if I justw ant random plays of whatever is on the iPod! I use the Channel Tunnel a lot and the DVD player is brilliant when you are stuick in the car for 45 minutes!

Its a fantastic car - enjoy!

Cheers for the info, jonosussex.
I’ll get a 2gig SD card ordered. Didn’t think of that option.
Used to have a Kenwood with usb input in my Golf, so I’ve got used to surfing through folders.
Set that up in alphabetical blocks for the various artists, (ABC) (EFG) etc. and that worked well.

Many thanks.
