anyone got a 122 with 18's on and find the ride too hard without acc? is it possible to put larger profile tyes on to combat this?

you could but larger profile tyres on 18's would put your make your speedo read out by 3.6% approximately based on going to 45% profile(calculated with http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... =34&t=6044" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

& not sure it would damp it that much

I've got a 160 1.4 with 18" Inters and it seems just fine to me.
Are you able to adjust the ride between Comfort / Normal / Sport on the 122 ?

Maybe it just depends upon what you have been used to driving - in which case you soon get used to it.

There's no ACC as williams wrote in the opening post. I'd guess you're better off swapping your Interlagos wheels to a set of 17", I'm guessing a bunch of people on here would volunteer, changing the tires would possibly improve things a little bit but would throw the speedo off as trix says, and it would be kind of expensive even if you could trade your old tires in for the new ones.

There is a marked comfort change between the 17" 45% profile configuration compared to the 18" 40% profile when I drove two Sciroccos back to back while thinking about what model to buy.

hi i have a 122 with 18" inters and find the ride great tbh. Wouldn't describe as anywhere near harsh. I actually think its a great set up between comfort and firmness even on the 18" wheels. I never drove on the 17" wheel so nothing to compare to only other previously owned cars. Guess it's pretty subjective really.

I can only cope with my ride set on 'Comfort' for day to day use. 2.0Tsi with 19' wheels. I will save 'Sport' for the odd track day. It's worse than a Cooper S! Maybe I'm getting old.

I would suggest you go for a test drive in a civic type R, then you'll know what harsh is!! Then once you get back into the scirocco it'll seem like the smoothest car in the world

I have the 122 with interlagos and no acc. If the roads are good, then the ride is perfect. If you find potholes, the ride is awful. But to be honest, when I'm on a road with potholes, the ride is not my first concern, but the integrity of the rims and tires.

Depends where you live too.

Roads arent great around me, as although theres no longer many pot holes, where the roads have been dug up so many times and surface is uneven and noisy.

Has anyone put 45 profile tyres on their interlagos wheels? i know this throws the speedo out slightly but that can be re calibrated apparently, if so has it made the ride more comfortable?

If you think the ride in the Scirocco on 18's is harsh, you are in the wrong car. Buy an Eos instead. The Scirocco is a "sporty" car. "Tight" suspension is a must

My brother had a cooper s on 18" with run flats that was the worst car for ride I have ever been in. My last car was an A2 on 17" it was the sport version had revised suspension... that was crashy. Have to say if you find the suspension too hard in the roc then I think you need to look at a different kind of car. Something like a honda jazz... LOL

just get some lighter 18" wheels, since ditching 3kg of weight per corner ride and handling is far better

Digging up an old thread, but TBH I do find the ride on 19's on my R a bit on the harsh side.

The ACC seems to cope fine with road undulations and general contours etc, but any bumps and potholes are absolutely brutal.

coming from a new Porsche boxter spyder, which is lower, harder and on 20's and yet somehow not as crashy as the Scirocco seems to be.

Not sure if that points at some kind of issue, but at only 35k miles I'd be surprised to hear that my suspension was tired!
