Re: The 2nd hand market
2nd hand prices don't work in the way you suggest, you can't discount the vat element of the car price when trying to workout the value 1 or 2 years later. Everyone pays vat so it's integral to the price of the car. The price is dictated by supply and demand, original price and any regional factors. Roccos seem quite popular so they currently hold their value reasonably well. If you find a cheap one, it may be a distress sale or a damaged/repaired vehicle, distress sales are good value, damaged/repair vehicles rarely are as their resale value will always trail an original condition vehicle. The car on pistonheads is no longer there which is odd as sold cars remain on the site after sale so it may have been a mistake, the cheapest on on Autotrader is £16.5k. If the economy dips again you will see prices soften more.
But basically they cost what they cost, don't try to ragtionalise it, if you like them, buy one!

And I guess the secondhand market is still seeing higher price cars because the current lead time is 12,000000 weeks for a factory build. (Well its not that long...but it is a longtime)
Re: The 2nd hand market
Exactly lovepug, the long lead time and desirability is holding second hand prices higher than expected so good for those who own not good for those who want to buy second hand.
I would think the one on PH was a scam sadly, it does happen but PH are quick to jump on them. There was a seriously dodgy one on eBay last year. Basically if it looks to good to be true it most likely is.

Re: The 2nd hand market
I searched the second hand market for ages, before deciding to buy a new one.
Because of the high values in the second hand market, helped by the fact I achieved a substantial discount from my local dealer, my new model cost me considerably less than dealers were asking for a similar car second hand.![Thumbs Up ](./images/smilies/thumbsup3d.gif)

Re: The 2nd hand market
Same as above, I shopped around trying to get an ex-demo type model, but prices and the spec I wanted meant that it was nearly cheaper to get a Bran New one - So I did! ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/smile.gif)

Re: The 2nd hand market
There is a 2nd hand candy DSG 2.0 TSi for sale near me (09 plate) for £22,495! A tad high by my reckoning. It does have a pano roof but no Sat Nav!
