Does anybody know what the difference is between the 1.4 TSI Scirocco (118KW) and the new polo gti also 1.4 TSI but (132KW), is it just a software upgrade and could I get it done by a dealer without losing my warranty !

Doubt it don't think dealers like messing with software and engines and only like fixing things.

More likely VW Wolfsburg may not authorise the ECU software download to the dealer's technician and his VAS5051 diagnostics as it does not match the Scirocco and it's chassis number.

I will lose my warranty if I get it remaped ! Don't know if it is worth taking the chance,

I drove a golf 5 GTI and mapped it, it makes a huge difference

It may not lose it warranty if you get a re map. There is a VW garage (not sure if I am allowed to mention them) that deal with aftermarket re maps etc, they then match your warranty if you have one on the car. Once they have done there work if VW won't fix a problem due to the work you had done on it then the VW garage will cover the cost. Reckon you would be paying a bit more that usual for the peace of mind of keeping your warranty. I am not to sure if they would do the polo though.

as has previously been mentioned the warranty will only cover anything that breaks due to the remap they can't say you aren't covered on a door lock breaking, for example, because you have had your engine remapped.

the difference between the 1.4 Roc & the Polo Gti is very likely just a remap but unless VW officially release which they are unlikely to as they officially don't affiliate with any remap companies (bleedsoff I presume you mean the VW racing upgrades which just happen to be available at a VW dealer) it you will not be able to get it put on your car if you want that power get a Polo Gti or remap your Scirocco. the difference between 160 & 177 out of the 1.4TSi will be minimal anyway like the 200 & 210 in the 2.0TSi

Think I'm just gonna run the idea pass my dealer and see what they have to say, (Trix do you think it will be a waste of money or will you go for it !

I'd say don't bother messing about trying to get the dealer to do it as I can see them flatly refusing plain & simple. I doubt they would admit to it even being the same engine unless you tied them to a chair & put a bright light in their face, they may not even know that especially knowing how little dealers know about the range anyway.

If you want more power go get a reputable remap which will give you more than that in terms of output anyway (assuming your car is close to stock figures but as previously mentioned it could be higher [& closer to the polo gti] than you think, you won't know unless you dyno it), if extra power really isn't such a big deal & you would rather not run the minimal possibility of your dealer disputing something then leave the car as is

but who listens to me anyway  ;)

Liverpool volkswagen are doing vwracing performance parts including the remap themselves, warranty not effected ( and I asked three different people) they said they only started doing this last week. Maybe all the vw dealers will start this?
