A race between hot hatches.
Can't believe Scirocco with lower spec engine beat the MKVI GTI.
Was it the chassis? Or less weight? Or the driver? See it for yourself.

Re: Scirocco beating GTI MKVI
Lighter, lower centre of gravity, wider track, better turn in, wider wheels and tyres and a mk6 driver who leaves the door wide open on corners
Golf 7R - Golf 7R - BMW M2

Based on this I should keep my Cooper S!

Odd they appear to have used a 2009 spec Roc.....unless the footage is a year old.....

Well i own a stock scirocco 09 with only 200 ps and raced a gti 010 spec that has 210 ps and yet i still beat it. I really think that 10 horsepower doesnt make a difference in th elong run but only on acceleration you'll feel it. Also, it depends on the driver really (in my opinion)
ALL MODS ON HOLD

I think you're right Raffoul.....5% in power makes no significant difference, the fact the Roc is lighter than GTI is likely to make more difference, but ultimately if the driver is a numpty then they can have a Golf R and you'll still beat them....

From the way it accelerates away at the start, I wonder if it's an S Works - I also have a Cooper, have driven a standard S and considered an S Works as an alternative to my Scirocco - the S is noticeably slower than a 2.0 Scirocco whereas an S Works is noticeably faster.

That's an s not a works. It doesn't have the JCW body kit, brakes or wheels. There's nothing in it between the roc and the cooper s performance wise though the mini will be more fun to drive. The roc is a better car all round though and a bargain compared to a mini cooper s JCW but the JCW is faster. This was my car decision having moved from a cooper.

Hmmm that is something I would argue, I had an MCS and it was awful. Hateful thing, couldn;t wait to get shot of it.Candy Monster wrote:That's an s not a works.
