Scirocco (2008) metal pedal caps help please

Hello,

I am not a VW owner I am posting on behalf of a friend who has a new shape Scirocco and would like alloy pedal caps for their car.

I have read via the search feature many have done this and it looks smart, but some say stock is low/out and hard to get hold of?

Also I read that VW say dealer fit but that there is a 'gadget' which one can buy to help fit them at home? Any info as to what this is and where to get it?
