MY2010 2.0L TSI - rattle 2000-3000 rpm

Have seen lots of old posts on this topic.

Tinny metallic rattle between 2000 and 3000 rpm

Apparently 'normal' - it's the wastegate actuator... rattling under acceleration.

Is it supposed to have been fixed for MY2010 ie. production change, or have VW just left well alone as it doesn't damage the engine etc... ???

Would like to just ignore if it is a common niggle rather than a fault - wanna avoid the stealers as much as possible as only had the car since wednesday 31st march.

Any help / advice / reassurance is gratefully received.

AWESOME car otherwise!!

It looks like its something you will have to get used to, its a shame VW havent found a fix for it.
When my problem occured, I got under the car and bent the heatshield away from the exhaust, which made it a little better. I find the rattle will get louder or quiet depending what angle the car is at

It will be fine anyway, not known of anybodys engine to to suffer profblems due to the rattle :)

Mine does it to. But only every now and again. Its not a constant noise and I can only hear it when I turn the radio down or off. Mite have it looked at if it becomes a major problem.

Had my 2009 2.0 TSi for a month now and have the same rattle from 2400rpm, particularly under moderate throttle pressure and when the engine's cold. I took it into VW who took me out in a 2010 model which made the same noise, albeit possibly to a lesser degree. The tecnician suggested the noise may have been engineered in to make it sound sporty, but i don't buy that as it's not at all a desirable noise, i find it irritating, particularly having traded in a Mk5 Golf Gti which sounded far better without the noise. It spoils the great sound of the DSG.

The only suggestion from VW was to buy an aftermarket back box.
