Very very annoyed at realising that my telephone preparation will not work with my phone (iphone), £380 down the drain! I understand that I can change the rsap module for the skoda one and then it should work as standard bluetooth.

Any idea where I can buy this from?

You could try to get at decent price from the dealer, telling him he sold you something that does not work...

Just a small addition to the above:

If you are changing from "Premium Bluetooth" to actual bluetooth, then you only need what is in the first picture above.

Question, slightly related (not trying to hijack the thread honest!!)

If I didnt spec the Bluetooth thing - because I knew it wouldnt work with my iPhone or Blackberry, so was going to go for this after market kit. Unsure if that means I need to get a mic installed? Because doesn't the radio have voice controls? (I speced the GT with Satnav (Not the CD changer version).

Not keen on having some mic randomly sticking out my dash or something :s

you would need a mic installing, personally would recommend you speak to the guys at richter sport who are distributors of fiscon which will plug into the back of your RNS510 & you only have a small microphone at the top of the a pillar against the headlining. lot simplier than wedging boxes under seats etc etc

Thanks for the reply. They are only in Milton Keynes (where i work) so not far to travel ether from Work lol.

The Mic is quite subtle I assume? I will defo get in contact with them once I get my roc!

Is it possible to use Skoda bluetooth if I never specced Premium Bluetooth?

that would require installing alot of additional items Hatter (i think all that are shown above & possibly more but not entirely sure) & then the car would likely require coding to make it work, therefore an all in aftermarket kit such as Fiscon which I mention above or similar would be alot easier & do not involve as many boxes etc.

If You start from scratch, then You need the Bluetooth box (incl. the thumb-size antenna) and a wirering kit specifik for your model. I think the dealer has both. I know kufatec.de and many others have it.
This will enable you to put the mic in the dedicated space by the ceiling light, making the install invisible.

If You go Fiscon, i think the mic is part of the package.
This wil make for an almost invisible install, and you get turbo pressure et al as well.

All other alternatives include an ugly box/screen added somewhere on the dash.

Forget Fiscon if you have a White MFA (dot matrix), because it just does not work (as far as I know). Skoda OEM BT is the way to go, totally OEM and no visible microphones anywhere. It is really easy to install, wiring is dead simple and car disassembly is minimum.

there were plenty of rocs with white mfd's with fully working fiscon at the xmas meet!
if you choose to install it yourself it just needs some minor vagcom coding & the richter guys do free fitting sometimes too.

OK, just checked kufatec's webpage and they DO have a version which DOES work with White MFAs.

BUT don't expect the following:

Only available for vehicles with red DIS
Boost pressure in bar (depends on vehicle)
Oil temeperature in°C/ F
Water temeperature in°C/ F
Remaining petrol capacity in l
Speed in km/h - m/h
Revolutions per minute

Not worth the price IMO. The Skoda kit is totally OEM and costs half as much as the FISCON, the only advantage of the later is SMS reading (quite dangerous). Also, for a OEM fit, you have to buy an additional microphone:

I have a contact in the Leeds area for a mobile fitter that I used to change mine when I was told by the vw dealer that the system would work with my iphone 3gs, They have today agreed to refund me the difference for what I paid for the skoda kit.

A question for those with Skoda bluetooth kits:

My 2010 Roc will have the voice control mic built in, but no pre-installed telephone prep kit.

I'm assuming with the Skoda kit I would need to run a cable from under the seat, up into the back of the RNS system. I don't like the sound of doing that tbh, but still..

As far as the mic is concerned, can I continue to use the one thats already installed whilst maintaining voice recognition?

I'd never really considered the Skoda kit as I always had in mind that it was an option for folk that wanted to relaced the RSAP box on their factory fitted bluetooth, but the cost does sound appealing compared to Fiscon.

The running of the cable from under the seat is a concern as maq says, would this go through the centre console past the gearstick and up behind the dash?

If anyone has seen any guides to fitting the Skoda bluetooth anywhere I'd be grateful for a link.

I've had a quick look and found a very detailed guide on fiting it into an Octavia. I'm fine with the process until he gets to the wiring part and is making manual wiring connections
