Is this a good deal on a new GT?

Hi all,

Been offered a what amounts to a 5% discount on a new Scirocco GT 2.0 DSG with Dynaudio, parking sensors and metallic paint:

£24,768.77

All on the road costs included.

I'm taking the build slot from a canceled order, meaning it'd be delivered to me in 12 weeks. I have been told the current order to delivery time is around 16 - 20 weeks; does this sound right?

Cheers

I paid £22,009 for a similar spec but that was back in June'09 for delivery in December'09.

However at that time this equated to 9%. My dealer also agreed to throw in premium mats and a full tank of diesel FOC.

So I guess you may have a bit more room for negotiation....

Hi Hatter
The current http://www.dealdrivers.co.uk/html/scirocco.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; price for this spec is £23,855. I ordered through them first week in Jan and my car is currently on the boat. Approx 11 weeks from order to delivery.

i paid £19750 for mines - metallic paint, dynaudio, parking sensors. I got £2000 scrappage for my old car and a very good discount because the dealer is a mate.

i reckon if i was to sell now i'd make money on it.

only 950 miles on the clock.

I'm assuming you're talking about a petrol engine rather than diesel. In which case, the spec you have mentioned can be bought for £23,766.88 from http://www.uknewcars.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

I haven't checked anywhere else, but this is a good benchmark.

If you're talking about a diesel, have a word with yourself!!

I have used UKnewcars before and they were good. I haven't used them recently as my dealer has been able to price match (dearer price, but better part-ex, so cost to change was the same), which saved me the trip to Burnley. When I bought from uknewcars, the dealer they used which served Northern England was Lookers VW in Burnley, and my contact there was the fleet manager (can't remember his name). He said that if I ever was going to use uknewcars again, I should contact him directly (presumably to do uknewcars out of their commission, but might save a bit of time in the order process).

I also used http://www.dealdrivers.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; who were pretty good (although the VW dealer that included an optional extra as 'big scratch on rear bumper before the car has left the showroom' was less good :)
