Rough ride down to "software update" VW says

I posted previously about the performance issues and rough ride that the VW dealership had supposedly fixed when it went to the dealership last week. The car was there again yesterday to investigate the same issues because I still wasn't happy with it - and after another software update it still hasn't made any difference to the ride. The performance is fine now but on B-roads the ride is lumpy and hard. I asked my ex (who is a Porsche Centre Principal) about it and he suggested that it could need a geometry check or suspension investigation. So I took the car back up to the dealership today and went on a road test with their chief technician.
He told me he had done another engine software management update yesterday and that it would have made some specific alterations but he doesn't know what they were and whether they affect the ride. It clearly helped with the performance however as I chased a TTS up the dual carriageway on the way there - OK it beat me but even so I gave him a run for his money! He's going to request a report from VW HQ and find out some more details.
They took my Roc on a long test drive yesterday and compared it to another Roc they have at the dealership and the ride is the same for each of them. I still can't understand why it's changed all of a sudden so it will be interesting to see what the VW report says. I was told there is no problem with the car, and that's just the way it rides and handles now and I'll need to put up with it.
Very frustrating. I love the car, but am disappointed with how it feels".
Does anyone else have the same problem? Perhaps be aware if your Roc goes in for a service and has the engine management update that it might affect the car - positively (performance) and negatively (handling/ride).
