Driven!

Yep, finally got my hands on one yesterday (a Scirocco that is!)
My dealer had a Salsa red with just winter pack option and a Rising blue with Black leather, Sat nav , Parking sensors and Panoramic roof.
I was thrilled to see the blue in the metal with panoramic roof as this was my choice.I was only allowed to sit in this one but was great to think - thats what I ordered! Glad I didn't spec the leather as although it looked OK I didn't think it was worth £1500 . I 'd rather have DSG thanks.(can't afford both) The cloth seats are excellent.

So the drive
Took the Salsa (manual) out with the salesman and my partner for quite a long drive . Motorway , A + B roads . It's very refined. I noticed straight away the difference in power delivery from my Gti. Quicker take up and smoother too.
Although it had only done 150 miles I did give it a bit of a pasting (be rude not to) . Very stable when navigating fast turns with little body roll. I tried all three ACC settings and although you could feel a difference ,I'd probably leave it in sport mode mostly except on motorway journeys.
All in all very happy with my choice of colour and spec . Cannot wait for delivery
P.S. Had a little peak in the arm rest and both Ipod and USB cables were there so don't order seperately

Yeah the blue looks great in the metal, nice choice.it's very reactive in the light so it shows off the curves really well and it looks great from a distance so i think it'll look great out on the road.

I found the comfort mode for the ACC was mainly useful when entering a town or village,it really seems to help the low speed ride by slowing the rebound down,my sister was in the back and said she really noticed the difference aswell.but yeah out on proper roads i'd leave it in normal or sport. It does corner very flat doesn't it,feels very squat and wide compared to the golf,i think the lower seating position makes it feel more that way too since you're less perched up than in most hot hatches. To me it felt more like the TT than the Gti somehow.

Totally agree David
One thing I forgot to mention , front and side window visibility is fine.Because you sit lower, the lower roof line made no difference . Rear visibility thru the headrests quite poor and the rear view mirror is smaller than my Gti's but didn't bother me too much as the external mirror view was fine.

I haven't driven a Golf since my Tornado Red big bumper MKII GTi :)
What I do know is the ride quality walks all over a MKII TT with standard (non-mag ride suspension)

Black or blue? (Blue and sunroof pics?)

Hi All

Just put in my order still pacing up and down on the colour choice though.

was thinking pewter grey and truffle leather, leather is illuminous orange though and having spoken to people at the motorshow they were not impressed.

Leaving me with Pearlescent black and black leather or Rising blue with black leather, they both look really nice, though the misses thinks the black trim on the blue body looks naff, she likes clour coded trim.

Would love to see a picture of the rising blue with a panoramic sunroof, have spec`d mine up with this, at first thought there was no point has no real function, but its one of the main design points of the car, also head room was not an issue i`m 6.1ft tall, misses said theres at least 2 inches or so between my head and the roof, main thing though is it changes the atmosphere completely in the car, going back to one without a sunroof its very clostrphobic.

If you could upload pics of the blue with sunroof it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

I Have been told end of november, but to be confirmed. Was going to go through broadspeed, but have read previous horror stories so shyed away from that. Somebody told me that they were taking orders and giving back deposits 3 months down the line because they cannot get the cars. So went with Martins group in hampshire, we`ve bought several cars off them in the past 2 years for the family and customer service is second to none, any issues or problems have been sorted quickly and without any fuss.

Really want to see the blue with panaramic roof though, test driven the blue without panoramic roof twice, did not think the black looked that great at first but having seen it today its changed my mind. One thing is that the blue makes it stand out as a scirocco, where as some people might mistaken a black one as an astra.

Gone for metallic/pearlescent paint, manual, panaramic sunroof, black leather, tire pressure ind, mats and autoglym protection, apart from colour still debating weather to go for dynoaudio, brochures contradict, one says 10 speakers and 600w (don`t think so, 600w`s????) the latest one says 8 speakers and 300w, now the basic sound system has 8 speakers and to be fair i put in a couple of cd`s inc ones with high bass and could not fault the standard sound system, the clarity was great at all sound levels, what really will the dynoaudio give apart from bleeding ears and another - £400 from the piggy bank?

I can confirm that the dynoaudio upgrade is for a 300W, 8 speaker system not the 10 speaker 600W claimed in some of the option specs.

The standard system is not bad at all but the clarity and stability at higher voloums will be much better with the upgarde.

Have you had a look on the link to the french website there are loads on pictures on there and I am sure there must be one in blue with a sunroof.

Hi Beechy, This weeks Auto Express has a group test - Scirocco,TT,Alfa Brera and BMW 125i the roc is in Blue with Pana roof - worth a look. To be honest though,I'd seen loads of pics of the blue but until you see it in the metal you don't realise how well it suits. Cheers and congrats.
