Hi guys, was just wondering what the best 3 products you would recommend for my Candy White Scirocco when it arrives.

My Topaz Blue 3 Series simply had a wash with Autoglym Shampoo, then Autoglym Super Resin Polish, and finally Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection, and i was always very happy with the results. Since joining these forums i have read about a whole other dimension of Carnuba Waxes, claying, sealing. Does all this Dodo Juice and Lusso Orro etc put Autoglym to shame or am i just choosing the wrong products.

Any advice you might have would be fantastic

it depends how much you want to spend, what result you want, & how much effort you want to put in.

personally my 3 key products are collinite 915 wax which gives great protection for a reasonable price, rain away (Mer equivalent of RainX) which is a godsend in all this rubbish wet weather & dodo juice red mist (tropical) to give the car a good sheen without all the effort of putting a full coat of wax on it.

As Trix says, it's all about what effort you want to put in and what results you want to get out of it.

Being who we are, and as into products as we are, we find it very difficult to pick out just three products from all that are available, so we would have to go for three stages, rather than products, that we think are essential!

First is wash... you have to have a good wash regime otherwise you'll end up causing swirls and scratches. For this, we recommend either one or two buckets, a sheep puppet, a good quality pH neutral shampoo and a super plush drying towel.

Second imperative stage is waxing... this is where you will not only protect the paintwork, but also achieve that really wet, glossy finish. For candy white you could go for either Diamond White or Light Fantastic. Both of these waxes, in our opinion, achieve far better results than the AutoGlym products you're used to.

The third "must do" for us has to be the tyres! There's nothing worse than an ultra clean car with tyres that don't have any dressing on them. Having the tyres dressed will just finish the car off fanastically!

How about a wax for a Salsa red? I take delivery next week and have another 2 red cars to keep clean so want reasonable lasting results without actually going overboard on the detailing.

For Salsa Red it would have to be either Banana Armour, Orange Crush, or Hard Candy... Banana Armour and Orange Crush are the colour charged waxes specifically for Red cars, however, Hard Candy would be an excellent choice as it seems to give a little extra shine on red compared to other colours.

My personal recommendation (Taryn) out of those three would be Banana Armour - simply because I adore the smell of it! Jim's favourite though is Hard Candy because of the extra gloss levels it gives.

Thanks guys another order to be placed this weekend. Have you got any group buys coming up as I'm also toying with the idea of the snow foam lance and a couple of other items?

We haven't got any group buys coming up at the moment, but that's not to say that we can't put one together if there's enough interest in particular products... what sort of things have you got in mind?

I was thinking of possibly a kit to go with a cleaning regime for owners that don't want to go down the mega detailing regime but want to keep their cars in good condition. Possibly Bucket, grit guard, wash mitt, drying towel, applicators, wax (possibly choice depending on car colour) and polishing cloth? Possibly tyre dressing as well? Suggestions and advice welcome

I would be interested in that too, waiting for a rising blue R. Don't know anything about looking after a car!!! Just the basics would suit me. What would you recommend for R Blue?

For Rising Blue you've got either Blue Velvet or Purple Haze to choose from, which are the two colour charged waxes for dark coloured cars, or our personal favourite on Rising Blue is Rainforest Rub... Rainforest Rub is Dodo's generic wax and is slightly cheaper, but would be an excellent choice.

see the dark colour recommendations that T&J have made above (blue velvet & purple haze), for my sumatra I use colinite 915 which brings up an almost mesmorizing finish once properly buffed off

As Trix has already said, Blue Velvet, Purple Haze and Collinite would all be good choices... another one to throw into the mix could be Pinnacle Signature Series Wax - an excellent all-rounder and Jim's personal favourite on the darker coloured cars.

Pick my Candy White up in April and think a kit would be a great idea, would definitely be interested. (Don't tink my girlfriend would be too happy about it though if it means I spend more time looking after my car than her!!)
