Daylight Running Lights - Post Week 45 Cars
Hey All,
At the meet yesterday, it was interesting to find out that the DLR's can be disabled with VAG-COM on cars built from week 45 of 2009.
I can't remember the exact details to change in the coding but my car is a wk46 and now has the DLR's completely disabled.
Thought I'd let people know as I believe there was some confusion about this.
Ash.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Johnny did it differently to those instructions. My headlights were also on dipped beam as part of the DLR's as well. I'm not sure if this is significant.

Re: Daylight Running Lights - Post Week 45 Cars
Does anyone think that i could get my dealer to disable the DLR's prior to/on me taking delivery, or is it something that a dealer wouldn't do? Cant see the point of them in the UK at the moment, alough i have read the threads on the future reason for them, but would rather not have them and have a functioning auto lights control.

You will be lucky if the dealer even knows that you can disable them, mine didn't...............

you can ask them (we don't have the screen shots for a MY2010 post wk45 for you to give them the instructions though) but they will most likely take the stance of "no chance mate"
the only other options are if you can find someone near you who is handy with vagcom to do it for you, or wait until the next meet we have then i'm sure I can bribe jc74 to come along & do his stirling service with his again laptop
as BlackDM says most are totally clueless, & then run a mile, especially if they have to ask the big bad hq about it who also say no..

I know my dealer wouldn't do it when I asked. Mine have been on since October when I picked it but. Just wait for the next meet and I'm sure Johnny will disable them for you.

Sounds like a no-no then! I will make sure I get to the next meet, but there is no harm in asking my dealer I guess.

Because it's a bit childish and irritates your neighbours when you arrive back from a night out?ashley1407 wrote:I wonder why they never both putting features like 'beep on locking' into the menus? :s

Re: Daylight Running Lights - Post Week 45 Cars
Is it just a by chance whether you have the beep or not or do they all come with it disabled?
Re: Daylight Running Lights - Post Week 45 Cars
they all come with it disabled ibanez33 you need vagcom (& vagcom knowledge) to activate it

Re: Daylight Running Lights - Post Week 45 Cars
My dealer had no problem activating the beep for me for when i pick it up on Saturday, infact it was an option on the colelction sheet along with radio presets etc.... I decided to hang-on with the DLR's and see how they look etc..before making my mind up about getting them deactivated.

Re: Daylight Running Lights - Post Week 45 Cars
Doubt it. Slightly off topic, but i enquired about the covered cup-holder. They would do me a discount on the cup-holder itself, but i cheekily asked them to fit it for free or at a very good rate, to which the parts chap went off and came back to say labour would be £198+VAT for two hours! I should have been a mechanic, or a VW franchise owner.
