Typical Faults of a Scirocco

Have had a couple of issues with my Roc and Scirocco Central has been of great help. Searching further I came over a German site whitch summarizes many common faults:

http://translate.google.com/translate?h ... obleme.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(this is a Google translation of the German site. I could probably do it better myself, but can't be bothered)

My Roc has had or have the following annoying problems:
x Tailgate or shock absorber rattle/rumble - Replace tailgate bumpers. Worst case shock absorbers will have to be replaced.
x Squeak when accelerating (I have a 1.4 TSI 160HP) - A new water pump will fix this. (Something with a magnetic coupling inside water pump)
x Some kind of metallic resonance when at 1600 - 2000 RPM - See different explanations for this, but I suspect an issue with the exhaust.
x Headlights steamy/misted - Apparently harmless condesation.
x Rusty bolts under tailgate AND DOORS - Dealer will replace
x Rattling speakers - Possibly a loose cable.
x Squeaky brakes - There is a fix for this covered by the warranty. Front brakes will be replaced.
x Unable to open tailgate when cold - Known issue, no fix. At subzero temp tailgate shock absorbers/pistons will not be able to push out the tailgate past the lock when opening.
x Unable to open fuel filler when cold - Unable to push in fuel filler due to ice build up. Grease up before it gets to cold.

So anyone recognise any of the points from their rocs?

If you have a search around the forum you will find most of these issues have been mentioned / covered. The 1.4 Tsi squeak is not fixed by a new water pump though - it's still under rectification as the newest version of the water pump also showed the squeak.

Deacon, that pump news is a little historical. Another modified water pump is on test right now with selected owners over Christmas. Too early to know if the squeak is fixed by this version.

Well, tailgate rattle has become "my middle name" already (an old rusty Polo from 1996 doesn't produce such noises through the potholes!). There's also a squeek present (1.4 tsi 160) and so far that's it.

For now...

I get to here the tailgate rattle on nasty bumps when the stereo is not too loud.

Since my remap the squeak frequency has increased, the water pump theory seems weird to me.
It happens when the supercharger gets into action.
I'm not even sure both are placed on the utility belt. Usually the water pump is located on the timing belt.
In any case the water pump is always engaged and the supercharger is the one with the magnetic coupler.

With widows open it can drive you mad, gladly I'm used to driving with windows closed and the stereo loud.
I wouldn't bother replacing a water pump for that.
It's the kind of jobs that can create new issues under your bonnet.
