I do love most things about the car but it has done a few funnies.....
About a week before the colder weather .When it was easy to get in my lovely car....
There I sat at the pumps , an old guy infront taking a month to fuel his pride and joy.
I turned off like you do. My old bud infront was coming out. I tried to start the car like you do .turn the key...!!! :fall: :shake: NO.... the key wouldnt turn. the windows did the rocco shuffle... the doors locked and unlocked... cars building up behind the burk in the VW... "why isnt he moving Daddy!!!!" you could hear...
(because the bloodi car wont start!!!) I got out ,locked the door ,stuck my tongue out at the little lad. unlocked the door, got in still nothing.. How embarrassing!!!!!!! after lots of button pressing and tries it just turned in the barrell!!! EH :fall: about 5 mins that felt like a week!
Seriously not done it since, even though I moaned about the windows freezing solid.... ( have you seen the film Christine?)
DEVIL CAR !!!!
It wasnt funny at the time>
By the way I used to test cars and trucks for a living... I have never had anthing like this before....
I think it may have had an arguement with my iPOD...... To many electo gizmos on cars to go wrong me thinks...
Or just didnt like my music......
Glad everything inlife isnt as reliable as a Volkswagen...
:eyepop:  I hope this is the last prob I have.....

This was probably to do with the steering lock. If you take the key out the ignition when you stop and moved the wheel slightly, the lock could have engaged and the tension could have been resting on the barrel. If it happens again, try turning the key while jiggling the steering wheel and see if it helps.

Ashley, I would imagine an ex-professional may be aware of steering lock, wouldn't you :)

Maybe, but you never know. That's the polite way of saying that I skim read the post!

Thankyou...
I suppose I have driven hundreds of cars....... several dozen VWs...
Old pieces of poop and top marques....
The steering lock was fine all those.
Perhaps Im getting old!!!!!!
