Boot Strut Fault

Had the car 2 months and noticed a slight noise when opening and closing the boot. Sounds like a loose spring sliding up / down inside the gas struts (both sides). Dealer is happy to order new struts and fit them but just wondered if anyone else had noticed this and whether it's just due to the design of the strut or whether it is an actual fault.

Daft question , have you tried opening the tailgate without the parcel shelf attatched cos you get a noise where the cords run thru the shelf.

Yes. And it's the struts. Just don't want to change them if the new ones are gonna be exactly the same. Can everyone please find a quiet spot to park up and open / close the hatch and let me know if you have the same sound. Thanks.

No sliding spring sound on mine. Just the usual strut sliding "whistle"/slow whosh.

There is a recall on some models to change the strut.
Check with the dealer

Isn't that recall associated with rusting problems on the body securing points and the bolts??
