Hi all, can someone confirm if the 2.0TSI engine has both a turbo and supercharger like, I believe, the 1.4 has please.
I had a look on the VW site and read about the TSI but it is confusing as it talks about the 1.4.
I presume that the T is for Turbo and the S is for Supercharger.
Very grateful for any information.

1.4 is twin Turbo/Super charger Injection, TSI. 2.0's are turbo only and I seem to recall that VW use their combinations loosely as I think 2.0 TSI is Turbo Straight Injection. Just to confuse people.

Thanks, that explains why the VW site was so vague about the 2.0

Tsi = Turbo Stratified Injection.

You're right for the past. Since found the little snippet I read a while back.
TSI since mid 2008 has no word meaning in VW terms. It is now a badge that VW apply to any engine that has forced induction, whether it be Turbo only or Supercharger/Turbo.
Stratified injection was removed from the engine designs about this time.

I always tell the uninitiated that the TSi on my 1.4 does stand for Tubocharged, Supercharged, Injection.
Sounds impressive to them even though its not quite correct

I tell people exactly the same thing too! They simply can't believe the car is a 1.4 litre. In fact they think I'm blagging. Makes me smile.
On the issue of the 2.0 TSi having a Supercharger & Turbo... well I bow to RW1's superior knowledge. He know's his stuff

Footnote: With the 1.4 TSI the T in TSI stands for Twincharger. That means two "chargers": a supercharger, belt-driven by the engine, and a turbocharger, driven by the exhaust gases. However I don't know what's inside the 2.0l TSI.

Just a turbo. Twin charged 2.0l would be interesting

LOL

It needs it as there nothing doin' at the bottom end of the revs. The 1.4 twin is "go" straight away
