Scirocco Central

So this R ordering business was really annoying me to the point where i was starting to get a bit stressed so today i phoned VW customer services myself instead of waiting for the dealer to finish his doughnuts!
I was told the ordering for the R's are "pretty much full" and chances of getting 1 are slim, on a list of nearly 500 only about 5 people have yet received a comms number.
The guy on the phone required more information and had to phone my dealer before he could get back to me at which point i was thinking the dealer could have messed up here ...cue 15 mins of torture!
Then the phone rings and customer service tell me they have seen the list and i am guaranteed an allocation of an R, also i am quite near the top of the list which he seemed pretty excited about although i don't think think this means anything at all!
So there we have it, just waiting for a comms number. He couldnt commit to any build dates but did say it's usually done in 16 weeks.
The only other thing was the dealer just wrote on the bottom of the order about 19" wheels as it wasn't showing on the computer which i forgot to ask about but will make sure when i hear more about build allocations etc.

I am 1 of the 500 and am very very happy!

Well there are 498 left now.

Ive got one too, checked my spec for me too was spot on

Build week not confirmed yet though.

OOH!! So I need to phone Milton Keynes???

Do you have a number? Will call tomorrow! We all ordered around the same time.... so that suggests that I may be lucky too

Dealer has confirmed my order he has 1 other order for a Scirocco and 1 for a Golf (both Confirmed) no delivery date as yet but he said the allocation of 500 was no where near being filled yet (VW have less than 200 orders at the moment)

I phoned VW customer service on 0800 0833914.
Pretty sure you will be fine LadyRocR, i ordered at 9am on 31st October.

Looks like i probably wont get one then my order only went through yesterday. Took me so long to decide a colour. Its so much money for me I had to be sure, I went for blue but im still not sure I made the right decision, I think i should have gone for black , I dont like the blue on the normal roc its to light but it looks good on the R

That was what he told me but then I guess if you have 200 names on some paper it will always look full!
You may still be in luck but a lot also depends on how many cars your dealer can order per month as I think a scirocco R is still part of their monthly quota.

So if your dealer is allowed to order say 3 scirocco's a month then that could be any models of scirocco.
I could be wrong tho!

They were very helpful when i phoned and confirmed my allocation ...maybe you didnt get one Brownbear and they were scared to tell you!!!

IT'S CONFIRMED

Dealer rang this evening to say that he had rang VW Monday and got no joy.. and today but was much more persistent! He says my order is confirmed for definite and he has seen the documentation from VW - I have a number and the date on the document was 19th Nov!!!!

There is another R order and 2 golf R orders that he has no notification of though He is getting quite nervous about those!

Very happy - need to start saving up now though!

Hey Guys

Spoke to them today, to everyone that is worried, don't be, they say they have not filled there allocations yet, not even close

As my dealer said, when he gets his demo in and people actually see the cars in the flesh thats when they will sell.
I think some people (like myself) who already own a standard scirocco will be quite impressed how much different the R will look especially from the front when it's sat in that showroom.

cant wait to see them, just to clarify here, there are 500 cars right? but this does not mean that 500 cars will be delivered around march time? surly this will be spread over a few months?

My order and spec have been confirmed today and the commission number should be through in the next couple of days!!

Hopefully I can change my order as I think I want the dynaudio aswell ...doh!

Excerpt from dealers most recent email :

"I now have a commission number for the Scirocco R model and I have checked the details of the order to confirm factory options."

Phew...
I might get a decent nights kip now

So what would happen if they don't manage to get 500 orders? And when exactly would they actually start to build the first customer cars?

I think they will already have a slot ready at the factory for R builds around feb time.
And if they don't fill the order bank then roll on our second hand prices, the rarer the better!
