Picking up my Roc on Monday and should there be a nice, dry day (Obviously won't be too warm) during the week I hope to give the car a nice full clean to give it a good start (Well, a "New" start as it's used).

Anyway, I've made a list of what to get and need to know if what I'm getting is excessive or if I need more. Personally, excessive is better as at least I won't be cut short come cleaning time. I just want to know I have enough cloths etc to go around.

thats alot, but whether its too much is up to you & how religiously you plan on doing it all.

personally my 'first wash' routine was as follows;
rinse with hose
wash (general car shampoo, 2BM)
rinse with hose
clay (megs kit)
wash, rinse, dry
diamondbrite 2 stage
[overnight interlude thanks to british weather & time available]
wash, rinse, dry
wax, 2 coats (collinite 915)

wheels are washed every time but protection for them (on separate occassion) was;
remove
wash inside & out
rinse
clay
wheel sealant, 2 coats (chemical guys)

my routine now is;
rinse
wash, rinse, dry
wax top up when required or polish with quick detailer (dodo juice tropical)

& when it needs it i do the windows with rainex equivalent (diamondrite version [Rain Screen]or mer version [Rain Away]) & trims and seals with cleaner (diamondbrite)

after the rubbish weather when it will probably need it i will add a polishing stage into the mix before waxing.

with regard to applicators, i need to get myself a wheel brush but i have 1 microfibre mitt by megs [for the roof, sides (above the rub strip), bonnet & upper front bumper & boot & upper rear bumper], 1 cheaper one halfords own [for lower sides, lower bumper front & rear & wheels], 2 drying cloths megs & a.n.other [still testing which is best], probably a million microfibres [yet still not enough] from halfords own, diamondbrite, megs, glass cloths [by turtlewax found in halfords], megs foam wax applicators

re your grit guard question, i don't use any, i just rinse my mitt at the top of the rinse bucket & encourage grit out with my fingers.

(please note i'm not a crazy diamondbrite mad person i got a kit bag off ebay for very cheap with diamondbrite sealant, conserver polish & wash, interior cleaner, wheel cleaner, cloths etc etc in which will last me years)

The only thing regarding the wheels is that you shouldn't need to apply both the Rimwax and the Wheel Sealant - generally it's either one or the other... that's not to say that you can't apply both, it's just that you probably wouldn't see any better results for applying them both - you'd get just as much from applying either one of them on their own.

With regards to the snow foam - it's not really possible to apply it by hand because you just wouldn't be able to get the foamyness (not sure if that's a real word or not, but I like it!) that you'd get out of a pressure washer. If you can get your hands on a pressure washer and foam lance then we'd definitely recommend doing the snow foam stage, as it makes a massive amount of difference to the amount of dust and dirt that's removed before you wash the car, however, if you don't have a pressure washer, maybe you could leave the snow foam stage out, and instead, apply a citrus degreaser and let that dwell for a couple of minutes before rinsing it off.

With regards to the buckets - you definitely need a grit guard in both of them as these make a massive, massive difference when washing the car, as they help you to make sure you get all of the bits and pieces out of the mitt each time you dunk it (because you'll be scraping it on the grit gaurd each time you dunk) and it also stops you picking up any of the debris again as it forms a barrier between the grit and your mitt.

That should just about do you we think! If you go for those bundle kits you've picked out, and all of the extras you've listed, there's not really anything else you need - you'd have yourself the ultimated Detailing kit-bag!
