Clutch pedal vibration

Hello I have a 170gt diesel and wondered if anyone gets a pulsing/vibration from the clutch pedal when pressed about 1-2 inches. I took it back to the dealers who replaced the clutch and flywheel under warrenty but after a week it feels the same. It is noticable when changing gear.
The dealer now says this is normal for the car (so why did they change the clutch the first time). From what I have read I do not have much faith in dealers.
I have tried to get a test drive with another diesel but there are not many demo's around at the moment so wondered if any members could tell me how their clutch pedal feels.

I'd say it's normal. I feel the engine vibration through the pedal when pressed slightly and it goes as you depress further. Don't notice it when changing gear though, just when my foot it resting on the clutch when in neutral.
I'm amazed they changed all that if what you are seeing is the same as me.

Yea I agree with Spiney, I feel the vibration when the clutch is slightly depressed but smooth as silk while changing.

Hi had mine from the end of September but the clutch is as smooth as silk through out its operation.
If you can feel anything then some thing is not right, as you say why did they change it if its normal.
Might be that the two posts above have the same problem as you

I don't recall having any vibration when the car was new only noticing it after about 2 months.
Press the clutch and you can feel the engine pulsing which feels like a vibration as you increase the revs like accelerating up through the gears. I have never owned a diesel before but find it quite annoying.
I was not impressed when they said my 2 month old car needed a new clutch and flywheel. Then he said it was normal when I took it back. Perhaps he had run out of ideas. A couple of dealers have said they are getting diesel demos this week so I will compare. If it is not the same then I may try and reject the car.

You will only get movement or vibration through the pedal if the clutch release bearing is not engaging the fingers of the pressure plate evenly, you then get a pulsing through the pedal.
Would have thought the pressure plate would be the culprit failing that the release bearing or its carrier.
Cant think why the fly wheel was changed.
I am suspicious of dealers and warranty work, they do the work that they think is needed its VW that picks up the bill and I am not sure the customer gets the right diagnosis every time.
Be persistent go back vibrations or movement through the pedal should not be the norm, it does not matter how many of them do it, If you don’t get what you think is right try another dealer for a second opinion.

I can detect a very, very slight hint of vibration in the pedal on engaging the clutch on my new TDI 170 (not in the driveline, the takeup is very smooth), it's not really noticeable on disengagement. It is very slight, and I've probably been primed to be aware of it having read this thread before I collected the car. I'll monitor it during the coming weeks.

I also have this very slight vibration, but as above, my gear changes are as smooth as silk. Nothing to worry about!

You should not feel any movement against your foot when depressing the clutch peddle it should be a smooth operation, you might hear a change in note as the release bearing comes in contact with the pressure plate and the gearbox stops rotating but no more.
We are driving £20,000 plus cars, its new and the ultimate in German engineering and should drive as such

I often feel a very light series of vibrations when I press the clutch pedal down on my 1.4.
It feels like I'm operating an electric clutch and that you are moving it over the coils of a rheostat.
Not always there but I'm pretty sure its just picking up some vibration the engine. Odd !

Thanks everyone for your replies.
I have tried another dealer but which is part of the same group. Technician test drove it and said it was normal just like his Tiguan! He also said the other dealer might have changed the clutch/flywheel just to please me!
If the parts go back to VW and are not faulty they might refuse to pay the dealer for the warrenty work.
I might try and contact VW to see if they were faulty, not sure if this is possible.
They had no sciroccos to try so had a drive in a Tiguan, but it did not seem as bad as mine. He is going to contact VW technical to see if there are any issues regarding the clutch. I think dealers are well practiced with dealing/fobbing off customers with issues like this.
It is not a major problem and the thing is when you think there is a problem you notice it all the more but I expect a new car to be nothing less than perfect. All the dealers I have spoken to have no scirocco diesels new or used. Looks good for residual values.
I will post any developements.

Perfect description of what I feel too.

I have a 140 TDI and have the same vibrations, i took it into my local dealer today and the service guy said he would expect a little vibration but that mine is worse than that. I also have an issue with the electric windows sometimes not returning to the closed position once the door is closed - there is a known fault so a part has been ordered. Once the part has arrived then the car will be booked in and they will fully check the clutch issue for me too.
I will update once the check has been completed.
Clutch Pedal Feedback... GT170

Hi Guys
I've just bought a November '59 plate Scirocco GT 170 tdi and wanted to ask a general opinion of other owners views on feedback up through the Clutch pedal....
I bought it from VW approved used car list and it has 14k on the clock. I've owned many VW and recently sold an A3 to move up to the GT.
When I drive the car I seem to get what I can only describe as a 'lumpy' feedback through the pedal when I'm changing gear and letting the clutch out slowly, there is also a rattle that occurs at around 1500rpm from the nearside of the engine.
I have never owned or driven a diesel before but feel this can't be good or right and unfortunately don't seem to be getting any good after sales help from the garage, almost like it's acceptable and 'deal with it' type attitute. I realise it isn't a new car but for the cost I expect a little more.
If anyone else is experiencing the same issue, or exactly the opposite I would really appreciate any info or thoughts and opinions.
What I'm hoping to hear is that you can't feel anything though the pedal...
Thanks in advance guys
J
Clutch pedal vibration!

Had my GT 170 just over a month and recently noticed a vibration in the clutch pedal when slightly depressed (the pedal, not me). Has anyone else noticed this, and is it normal? I don't remember it when new, but maybe I was wearing thicker soled shoes?
Apart from that (oh and rather sharp brakes!), its a great drive - no rattles or creaks - a very smooth performance! And of course it looks fab!
Thanks in advance chaps!
