Yeah, its a bit crap. I have a 8+ year old Peugeot that has gas struts on the bonnet.

Pretty poor I would say on a £23K + car.

A lot of people criticise this as a bit of cost cutting, but I don't really have an issue with it. I don't spend much time under the bonet and when I do I don't have a problem with putting the manual strut in place. If the ones on the boot were manual then we really would have an issue.

it may be due to the bonnet length, maybe the existing stock of gas struts couldnt be fitted to the car without cost implications, weve already seen cost cutting measures in this car, but who knows?

One of my neighbours has just bought a new (strange spec) Hyundai Coupe 1.6 for £12k from Motorpoint. Big long bonnet...2 nice big gas struts!!! It's a Hyundai for Gods sake

yeh when the guy at the company at the above link gets his roc, he will develop a gas strut solution for it and will even fit it for you.
also, the mod will come in at less than £100
