I placed my order this pm :-) Very excited!

Wondering just how popular it will be and if I will be lucky enough to actually get the car? If you didn't know, VW are collating the orders for 2 weeks then notifying the dealers if their orders have been lucky!

If anyone has any Q, please ask :-)

Hi Folks,

Yup, I've also taken the plunge :-)

I was originally going to order the Golf R, but we decided at the 11th hour to hang on to our Mk5 R32 and go for the Scirocco R, which I genuinely feel is better value and better looking. The new car is replacing my 15yr old Corrado VR6 Storm, so I think the Roc R would be more a spiritual successor to my trusty Rado, than the Golf would be.

So anyway I emailed my local dealer on Monday (02/11/09) and attached a print out from the Car Configurator so he knew what options I wanted .

The road test reviews I've read so far are certainly encouraging, and I'm especially looking forward to seeing how the Scirocco R measures up to the R32!

Welcome Georgeous and our numbers are increasing The reviews are VERY positive aren't they which is making me very excited although it is likely to be a long long wait! Has the dealer given you any indication at all of delivery? Mine said possibly as long as April, but may be Feb..... so who knows.... not holding my breath though

Not heard anything on Delivery, But my Sister has ordered a 2.0 TSI DSG dark Met blue at the same time. See which arrives first

I contacted about 6 dealers a month ago to say I may be interested. They all said they would contact me as ordering opens. A week not heard from any of them! Congrats to all those that have taken the plunge it will be truly awesome

My local dealer is telling me March/April 2010 which suits me just fine! I also work overseas and it just so happens I'm at home for the last half of March and the first half of April
I also caught myself drooling whilst watching Autocars First Drive video review of the new Roc R vs. Focus RS.
I'm going to end up wishing my life away at this rate...roll on next year

I ordered a rising blue ...first at dealer so hopefully VW will let the order go ahead, just waiting for the 2 weeks to be over!

I'd happily order one in any colour if I could actually get a dealer to call me back and admit that the R actually exists and is not just a figment of my imagination

I have a few hooks in the water though after a few hours on the phone today, hopefully one of them will bite

I have never had a factory ordered car before, can we change any specs before the build date or are our orders now set in stone?
Just little things like DAB radio which im thinking about ...but probably not for that price!

With previous orders, I have changed the spec before the build date is confirmed. In fact I added my panoramic roof to my GT weeks after ordering it
