Convenience Menu - Manual Door Opening

The MFD shows four options under Convenience > Door Opening > Manual.
1. All doors.
2. Single door.
3. Veh. Side.
4. Individual.
(1) and (2) are fairly self-explanatory and I have used them with expected result. I could not fathom what (3) and (4) supposed to be. My tests show that (3) is similar to (2) in that only the drive-side door unlocks when unlocking using the remote key. (4) seems to be similar to (1). All doors unlock.
Can anyone help point out the real difference between the four options? Thanks in advance.

I have got the updated steering wheel and instrument cluster if that is what you mean. The owner's guide only had description for All Doors and Single Door.

I have the MY2010 controls and was wondering the same. The user manual supplied with the car has not been updated, and the supplying dealer was no help on whether there is a newer manual available. Most of the menus on the display are self explanatory but this one isn't. No doubt there will be a software update at first service and the menu options wil be altered. Is there a direct contact with VW to log such queries or do you have to go via a dealer?

Sorry to be a noob, but what does the 'MY' stand for in the MY2010? I've seen it used a lot, but can't fathom the abbreviation.

Had a play with this - seems to be an "anti-hijack" type of thing. Auto door closing causes the doors to lock when the car starts moving forward. Auto opening subsequently keeps the doors locked until thekeys are removed from the ignition, when the doors auto unlock, not open..
Any good?

Nope.

You described the AUTOMATIC Door Opening of the menu. That is pretty straighforward. This thread is about the MANUAL Door Opening menu.
