Well,

I've just rang up my dealer for an update and i have been given a build date of week 2 in 2010, so will be delivered around a month later than what was suggested to me by the dealer when I ordered it (3 weeks ago now), which was 31 December 2009.

I am a tad dissapointed, but have known all along, after reading up on here, that the date would likely slip. Hopefully, it will arrive for my birthday at the end of January, you never know. At least it will be registered in 2010 though

I will just have to drool over everyone elses pictures and posts on here for the time being.

You'll only be a couple of weeks off a 10 plate, I would wait.

Yes mate, thought the same myslef. I will see nearer the time when the delivery date does get confirmed.

My dealer (actual salesman) called me on the weekend to tell me that the delivery date is still on for the end of the year. I told him what his colleague had told me during the previous week and reckons that he was mistaken and that everything points to the 31st December for my collection, as he had just had a meeting with the group controller.

He has gone off for a couple of weeks holiday now, so thought i would let it be until he returns, then will be on his case as soon as he gets back to get a confirmed build week and the commission number from VW.

build weeks change alot gilez especially soon after ordering wait till your salesman is back things should have settled down by then

I have justed called my dealer again to get a status update but didnt realyl get anywhere. The salesman isnt in at the moment so spoke with the manager who said that it is still showing for delivery at the end of December. I replied to say, working back the time, i would expect the car to be built at the start of/1st week in December which is about 3 weeks from now, so was supprised that the factory hadnt given them a build date/week, and asked him to find out.

We will see, but i am having thoughts that the end of December is potentially a date that isnt going to be hit.

have you tried to get your com number & rung vw customer services..?

No, not yet.

I have just had another call and have been told i will be getting a call back on monday with an update so will be ensuring i get my CN then. An interesting one though, as they have just told my that VW are having problems (didnt say what) with the RCD510's and as such they are apparently fitting the RCD310 with SatNav instead, which may be causing delays.

I am going to call VW anyway to ask them the question about the radios. To be continued......

Problem with radios was confirmed by the VW customer services, and are being upgraded for free. I have just posted such in the New section.

Bad news for me though, apparently delays on the GT's (dont know why) and mine hasnt been allocated a build week yet, and said i would be looking at getting it at the end of February, probably into March. Altough i really am looking forward to getting my car, and the sooner the better, I am not too dissapointed, as this would mean a 10 Reg, but not knowing when it will be built is frustrating.

what does this mean, i would really like to find out some information, from someone other tan the dealer, who seems to know nothing

com number = comission number, it is 6 digits & you can get it once your order has been logged with VW UK. if you aren't getting a satisfactory response to requests for information/no information from your dealer you can ring customer services (0800 0833 920), give them this number & they can advise you of the status of your order.

imo though i think they are realising that people are taking this route & are not always being as helpful but you're fine if you get a good one.

Spoke to my dealer yesterday who said there was a shortage of RCD510's and this has resulted in loads of GT orders remaining unconfirmed. Im still build week 47 unconfirmed!
