thats without all the junk i'm forced to carry around 'in case of emergencies' you don't want to see it with! having said that the junk helps the ride height
Come on spill it out, what does everyone carry around in their car boot "in case of emergencies"??
Dunno why, but I have a cool bag containing windscreen cleaner and some car wash wipes (which don't work very well btw)
Edit: Also a resusable carrier bag for when I remember to take it to the supermarket.
Under the boot floor, I have an emergency blanket, emergency triangle and a flourescent vest (plus standard stuff). Oh and a small folding umbrella now scirocco reminds me!
That's all!

I've got a pair of gloves and an ice scraper, because if it's frosty it's not good to unlock the car without scraping some ice off the bottom edge of the window first before it drops when you unlock it.
That's it.
My old car used to have an old coat and a jump leads, rags, screenwash and all that guff and in 10 years I don't think I ever used any of it so at the moment it's all in a bag and hasn't gone back in to the rocco.... yet.
If I need anything like a wheel change I'll call VW assistance.

First Aid Kit, Warning Triangle and Hi visibility vest (all mandatory by law)
The spare litre of oil, a Childs booster seat and for some strange reason that I can’t quite remember an Oxford English Dictionary.

LOL!
Does the towbar fit the Roc?! Why's it not on the back of the car!
Strange place to put a comb!
Btw you do realise that VW assist comes for free for 1st year, so jump leads etc are unnecessary? Think of mpg and the environment!
As kev says, they can be called out for flat tyres etc (I've done it in the past with a previous car, when I pulled up for a pub lunch). Why do it yourself when someone else can do it for free and not have to use the built-in jack.
Evil Derboy - Is that oil still good? - don't they have limited lifespan (assuming it's even the right spec)?

its not that sort of tow bar its a rigid towbar to use instead of a tow rope
that list is including bits in the glove box which is where the comb is
i know i don't really need it all but its habit & i don't have anywhere i can put it in the house/garage/shed at the moment

IT is often said that it's 'what's inside, that counts'.
That certainly applies to the car boots of more than 1,000 Londoners surveyed as part of Transport for London's (TfL's) Smarter Driving campaign.
Among the weird and wonderful assortment of things people carried in their boots were a sack full of used postcards, an antique commode and a rock resembling former Generation Game host Bruce Forsyth.
More than 30 different kinds of animals also featured, ranging from locusts and hamsters, snakes and parrots, to goats and sheep.
However, the prize for most surprising find must go to a driver from southwest London who had been ferrying around bars of gold in his car boot.
Ben Plowden, Programme Director of TfL's Smarter Travel Unit, said: 'Cars are the third biggest contributor to an individual's carbon emissions and carrying unnecessary items in your boot increases fuel consumption.
'All it takes is a spot of spring cleaning and a few simple changes to your driving style and you'll soon be counting up the savings - to the environment and your own pocket.
'If all drivers in London drove smarter, TfL has estimated that this could drive down the capital's carbon dioxide emissions by half a million tonnes a year.'
Here's a few more things people admitted to carrying in their boots:
Southeast London
Historical costumes and chain mail
An autographed racing car wing
East London
Life-sized cardboard cut-out of Princess Diana
Shop mannequins
Gallows and 7 nooses (for a magic show)
North London
A sack full of used postcards
Stuffed otter
Southwest London
A hive full of bees
A fruit machine
West London
Hundreds of unmatched socks
Skeleton
6ft Pink Panther

Drive smarter to do your bit
AS well as avoiding unnecessary weight in you boot, the following smarter driving tips will be able to help you cut down on emissions:
Keep your tyres inflated to the right pressure
Speed up and slow down smoothly
Change gear at low revs
Don't leave your engine running to warm it up
Limit the number of short car journeys you make

It comes with the car. Why get cold and wet on a hard shoulder changing a wheel when someone can come and do it for me
Oh that, and I'm lazy!

Should I have the emergency kit, as it looks like the boot has the clips for exactly that?

I think I know what you mean. I think that's for an emergency triangle, which you can buy from VW.
I bought my own one, but it's too small and doesn't fit

I've got a fleece blanket that lines the boot (in pink

), a map book, a long weight, an accident pack (pen, camera, etc) that Toyota kindly sent me, a sky hook and a foot pump - quite dull I'm afraid!
Trix - the sheer quantity of stuff in your boot really will take some topping!

i'd love to know the reason behind the dictionary if you ever remember...
I was charged with drunk driving and took it home to prepare my written statement to hand into the police and it has been in my boot ever since.
Before I get flamed, I was on a bicycle, I have never been near my car whilst drunk and always watch what I doing with respect to the morning after.
It was worrying at the time because they can even take you car licence off you dependant on the seriousness of the circumstances.
The translation of the police report is hilarious and I have a framed copy on my wall in the house, they even say that because I was Scottish they could not make out a bloody thing I said.
The out shot of this was after my statement and a letter from my Lawyer the case was discontinued by the Public Prosecutor and a travesty of justice was narrowly avoided.
:o)
Back on topic, I also have a blue beach towel that I put over the rear bumper when I'm loading the boot with larger objects into the back to protect the paintwork.

Reusable shoping bags and a warning triangle because it's mandatory, that's all !
Over here the Yellow vests have to be in the passanger compartment so you can put them on before you get out
