The time has come to hawk the motor but I'm a bit lost on a few things. I hope you guys can offering some advice about the technicalities of selling a nearly new car privately.
1) The car has outstanding finance, how do I assure the buyer that the finance will be paid off? Two cheques if the price is more than the finance outstanding? Get the buyer to make the cheque payable to the finance company?
2) Handling requests for testdrives. Naturally, potential buyers will want to test drive the motor but I only want fully comp drivers behind the wheel, how would I handle that?
I've never been in this position before, any advice?

Re: Selling
As above, generally insurance companies only cover 3rd party for other cars.
I purchased a BMW a few years ago which still had finance on it. I paid the money direct to the finance company with the seller ( who also had to pay some off too). It was done over the phone.
Hope that helps. For me it seemed the safest option.

Re: Selling
If it was myself and I was selling private, I would take any potential buyer out for a spin in it with me behind the wheel if I was not 100% happy with the buyer for whatever reason.
There is very little to be gained with letting him / her drive it and a whole lot to loose, I know of several garages that also adopt this policy.
It might put some off by giving the impression you are trying to hide something but explain your point of view and if they are serious there should not be a problem and it will sift out the tyre kickers just out for a shot of your car.
