I love my car as im sure most of you do, but here's a list of my niggles that i have, feel free to add any of your own or make suggestions to help me on mine!

1) Coming home lights (See my latest posts in the Day Driving lights thread)
2) When accelerating, my seat will click and creak back a very very small amount, but it annoys the hell out of me because i can hear the noise. Looks like bolts need tightening maybe?
3) Windscreen wiper rattle
4) Windscreen wiper not clearing windows very well
5) Standard headlight illumination, not great in my opinion

i know most of these have been discussed but i thought id post in case anyone has suggestions on them.
Thanks

Very early days for me, but I don't like the way you can only change the CD/MDI track with the steering wheel contols when the computer display is in "audio" mode and not when showing other info (whenever I have had a Golf hirecar with work they are the same).

Also don't like all the damn finger prints on the radio screen when using the touch screen.

My main gripe is the windscreen wiper rattle, has anyone had a fix yet? if you look at the wiper blades you can see that the design is just a blade with a steel or plastic blade encased, what's wrong with the old system of a metal framework like on most cars, I suspect that the blades are not heavy enough to sit on the glass without moving. I can see us all having to get some of those Halfords boy racer wind deflectors that you see on Nova's.

White is a bit of a pain in this weather to keep clean, I had it looking the biz on Sunday but now its just as dirty as last saturday.

Most expensive useless extra is the Pana roof, looks good from outside the car but apart from that it does nothing for me.

Also seat heaters are crap, in my BMW if you left then on you would have third degree burns (and my GTi Mk V) but you never have to switch them off in this weather, maybe the leather is a bit thicker, but even on full heat my arse is still only luke warm.

I disagree.
I find them fine, but then maybe my arse is smaller... ;)

Why would I want third degree burnes anyway?

My rattle disappeared - all I did was put them in maintenance mode, lift them up and wipe the rubber with sponged soaked in shampoo/water when washing my car.

I think the wipers are shit, they never clear everything and rather than cleaning they tend to smudge more when I get a minute I will replace them.

In my last car I used to run the wipers whenever there was a rain drop, I honestly leave the wipers now until the windscreen is filled with rain drops otherwise it leaves freaking 7inch smudges right across my vision, its mostly the left (drivers left) wiper blade that does all the smudging.

Other than that it’s a super car, first time I really let it rip tonight car didn't even struggle*

*I came up from a 1.6 Golf so for me it’s a real beast :D

i am glad its not just me on the heated seats, take ages to warm up and 3 is the minimum setting to get any real heat but need cranking up to 5, the golf ones are savage on similar settings and my old a3 are miles better, i put it down to materials given the ribbed seats in the scirocco being thicker

no wiper rattling or smearing (all be it auto setting on wipers can leave the odd streak), screen cloth added for the head unit grubby paw marks, headlights better than a3 so can't grumble other than the drls, electric drivers seat has no rattle, however, it does not tilt and slide like standard mechanism you press the high level button to slide forward, not an issue as only carried 3 up so far and adjustment is worth the agro

having cleaned it today the sills and wheel spokes take some serious cleaning and you get a load of crap under the boot lid where it, white was my first choice (and reckon will be the best colour to modify) but would look crap given my day to day driving, the blue hides the crap well, the wheels do not.

cost cutting annoying bit are the cup holder the gti/r32 sliding lid one is better and the old fashioned bonnet stay is cheap

if it was perfect i'd probably hate it

i think ill have to try giving the wipers a bit of a clean. and maybe try tightening up the seat bolts. if that doesnt work i may take it back in and get them to look at the issues

1) Cloth on the side of leather is cost cutting
2) ESP and ACC button in wrong place for right hand drive
3) Rear wheel arches are made of a funny material (different to front ones) which make them hard to clean mud from
4) Wheels throw up a lot of stones
5) Wipers are rubbish
6) 1st gear can be a bit jerky in traffic
7) Wing mirrors get very wet in rain. May sound like a silly thing to say but other car has glass recessed a bit so the rain runs of them and improves visibility.

found this was the case in sport due to thottle response, now use comfort/normal for urban crawl

risingblue1 wrote: 1) Cloth on the side of leather is cost cutting - Totally agree
2) ESP and ACC button in wrong place for right hand drive - ESP was the same in my Golf
3) Rear wheel arches hard to clean mud from - Once mudflaps are installed they take up some of the space
4) Wheels throw up a lot of stones - Yeah found it to be the same for me
5) Wipers are rubbish - No, they are useless at times
6) 1st gear can be a bit jerky in traffic -Noticed this when ACC was in Sport, stopped using that now due to higher fuel consumption.
7) Wing mirrors get very wet in rain - Same in Golf

Can anyone help me with this...

In my Golf when turning ESP off, the word OFF would light up on the button and on the dash the symbol would appear constantly, in the Scirocco the button doesn't light up and on the dash the symbol slowly flashes rather than appearing constantly.

Can someone confirm if this is the way its supposed to be.

Thanks

I too have the windscreen wiper rattle and find it very annoying. I tried cleaning them with soapy water it made no difference. Has anyone spoke to their dealers about it? I also agree about the first gear and the cost cutting on the leather putting the cloth around it on one side. The heaters for the seats are crap my father has a jetta and if you put them about to five you can't sit on them. Apart from these I think its a great car a real headturner

So what is the point of them getting so hot?! If you can't sit on them on level 5, then I don't blame VW for taming the heat down on the 'roc.

I suppose I would clarify the point about the heated seats even on five they are not that warm and even though I agree that vw have done the right thing in toning them down a little bit more heat would he nice and then my wife would stop moaning to me about them

Ahhh now the real reason for your post comes out!!

Thanks for clarifying. I have not experienced VW heated seats before (only BMW and Mercedes - not my cars, other peoples'!)

i can sympathise on my last car i had to sacrifice the parking sensors for the heated seats for the missus, she used to repay the favour by cranking them up to max, on the scirocco i need not worry

My dealer swapped my drivers wiper blade yesterday and first impressions are its done the job. Was raining really heavy mind so no chance to see what it left behind as the screen was immediately full of rains spots. Will let you know.
