Hey fellas,

So I’ve got a 2012 Scirocco R. I’m considering buying a rear subwoofer (the kind that you have in the trunk. I don’t know a whole lot abo ur subwoofers but I’m sure as I can learn. My friend and I just installed one in his old ford focus.

I’m just curious if it’s a very difficult process of installing one. My main concern is pulling up the trim as I’ve heard the trim can be a bit tricky. Is this difficult or is it actually not hard to do with the help of a friend. He already knows most of the stuff when it comes to wiring aswell.

On top of that I’m curious if the standard unit is fine for upgraded subwoofer. And furthermore is installing upgraded door speakers hard and do they require an upgraded head unit? I’ve considering buying the upgraded oem head unit that has Apple CarPlay, but to be honest I just don’t care about Apple CarPlay at all.

If you search "subwoofer" on the forum, you will find dozens of threads, hopefully some will help.

The trim is a challenge to pull off without damaging. From memory, start with the rear seat base, then the rear side panel and the door sill/A pillar trim. If you need to remove boot trim, start with the rear panel and the parcel shelf support.

Accessing the head unit is straightforward - unclipping the trim panel reveals 4 screws. (On facelift models, the hazard light switch, then the centre vents have to come out first.) Any other work involved, I have no experience of

Hello,

Probably, if you want to get an OEM subwoofer, you have to install the amplifier for Dynaudio option. This amplifier manage the subwoofer 5G0035591.
You can have Dynaudio system with radio Discover Media (Car Play compatible) or RNS315 for sure, other radio I don't know.

Thank you
