Are there any roof bars available for the roc yet ?

Thule don't even have anything in development yet :(

I need something to carry £2k worth of mtb and £1k worth of canoe.

Just to show folks some pics of the bars in place.

I got these particular ones from a member here but I think they're the same as the those at Micks Garage.

I only got my Roc on Wednesday so a nice little 700 mile trip to Scotland for some canoeing and wild camping was in order.

To fit the bars it's basically a case of peeling back the door rubber and sliding the foot into place. The front bars slip onto a small semi circular lug but the back ones have to be measured from the edge of the door. Not too hard to fit and they come off even easier.

Thanks for the bars Chris :)

I have been checking up on the Thule website and the place i bought mine from for my current car, but am starting to think that it is going to be a while until Thule bring something out.

I will be getting my car 1 March, so am keen to get my roof bars for my MTB as soon as possible, but will hold out for a bit longer as hopefully i will just be able to get the Thule feet and swap my bars over.

That was my plan too but a couple of phone calls to Thule gave me the impression they don't have anything in development yet. I'd be interested to hear if you find some one day though.

I was wondering if the Thule bars fit in the La Prealpina feet in photos above, and if so, can you buy just the feet or do you have to buy the full set?

I was in Halfords the other day too, and they are not doing any own brand Roc roofbars yet either.

Cheers for your help. I'm gonna get a set of these from Micks Garage. The Volkswagen roof rack is £270, with most parts departments able to offer 10% off them, but still way too expensive! I also have a Thule rack for my Focust ST, but it's not transferrable, as Thule don't have anything in the pipeline.

Hi, I am a relatively new owner ( June ) and we have just been up to Scotland, so my son is eager to get his MTB on top. I did see the advert for Mick's Garage, but was sceptical because the price is so different from the official Volkswagen one. However, I know this is also true for towbars (always used GT Towing), so perhaps this concern is unfounded. Can anyone advise on their experience with those supplied from Mick's Garage. Probably most concerned about the rear bar as there is no usual door rubber to work with. Thanks

Not been on here for a while but I'm glad I've just spotted those pics PC. :eyepop:

I've been hauling my 15ft canoe up to Scotland every month for the last year on my bars, they still look solid and show no signs of bending but the consequences of me losing my boat on the M6 could be nasty.

Good to see Thule have now got a set that fits, even though I'm broke I'm going to have to get them now I've seen those pics above.

I've googled Votex, but can't find much other than T4 stuff. Do you have any links?

I was just about to order a set of Thule ones, now they have released a fitting kit, but the speed & load ratings are similar to the ones you mentioned above.

After speaking with Thule today it sounds like the 1631 fitting kit should be available from the end of Feb, so I'm taking my 762 bars and 754 feet back to Halfords tonight and waiting until these guys have them in stock ...
