ABS Woes, tried everything at this point. 2008 2.0 TSI

This might go on a little bit but im at the end of my tether at this point.
About 6 months ago i got the dreaded ABS lights. Fault code that was reading was 01299 Diagnostic Interface for data bus.
Everything i read online said new unit or recon the old one, i didn't have the money so i parked her up and left her.
Come back a few months later, looks like water got in somewhat and we have some water damage / corrosion under the steering wheel (RHD) and the CAN control module is destroyed, completely corroded and pins rotten off, looks to have been Power and Ground pins which make sense.
So i solder on new pins, remake the connector, bought a new one and now i have control of the vehicle again, most of the faults are gone, seems to be working, eg ODB reads nicely.
I bought an exact like for like ABS unit, pump and control module reference numbers match and fit it, bled it etc.
Now, after coding, i still get 01299 error, but no lights. I drive about 20 meters (always the same distance) i get lights and errors relating to ABS operation:
01130 ABS Operation
01316 Brake Control Module
Systematically i have resolved all faults related to the water ingress, including a non responsive Lateral Acceleration sensor and i just cannot get this ABS to work.
Ive replaced all 20/30 amp fuses in the engine bay in case the ones that where on diagrams where wrong.
Ive read the live data on the Steering angle sensor, Longitudinal sensor and lateral and they look good.
Ive read data on all 4wheel speed sensors, they also look good.
Could this be a relay somewhere? I cannot find any documentation on what relays do what.
Ive definetly got earth issues, ive already had to renew the negative going to the body from battery, and the earth on the gearbox, as well as the earth on the front left headlight, all where rotten.
When i tried to renew the earth coming from around the ABS the nut snapped off so i made something to connect direct to the battery, this might be where my issue is but i would just like some advice maybe on what you think it could be other then this, and if you think its this where can i run an earth from the ABS unit? Do i splice into that cable for example?
