question from newbie

Post by jimboger1 »

hi all
just bought my son a mk3 2012 TDI with the electronic suspension
bought private, and a lovely car, but unluckily, the rear left shocker has 'sheared' just below the top nut
its the original Monroe one
so, wondered if I should buy a used original unit or are the aftermarket ones OK - and if I get the aftermarket would I be better getting a pair
also, does it need programmed once fitted
thanks in advance
Jim

Welcome to the brood. An excellent choice of car; if I may say so. And I may.
If the dampers are original, and one sheared off, you may want to have a closer look at the rest to. For my peace of mind, if not yours too.
Should you buy original? Yes, you can.
Yes, There are aftermarket ones. Can't imagine they would need programming.
You can also ditch the electronic suspension and save some renminbi.
Collector of warning lights.
