Delivery length?

Evening all! I ordered my Scirocco GT on the 28th Aug, how soon can I expect delivery? 12 weeks has been given as the standard time... is this accurate?

Also, got the parking sensors and folding mirrors put on. A good choice? Do the mirrors tilt downward when reversing?

12 weeks would seem a bit optimistic these days - people are being told orders going in of late won't be seen until early 2010.

Mirrors down - only the left handside tilts down when reversing.

Sales rep said it 'might be a week longer, but no more than that...'
could it be that the dealership hadn't filled their allocation or something?

Yeah not good news i'm afraid!

I ordered at the very beginning of July and was originally told mid-august delievery...

well we're past mid-august and no sign of my roc as yet!

(i've now been told mid-november, so that's a full 20 week wait)

Sorry dude :/

So can somebody shed some light on why there is such a long wait between order and delivery?!

your guess is probably just as good as mine gareth..
but generally; production scheduling in the factory, sheer volume of people wanting the car, vw disorganisation?

Gareth, one dealership I spoke to said that they'd used their allocation (off the top of my head, 1 per month) for the year and so I'd have to wait until January........the dealership I ordered through were a bit better than that as ordered it on 28th July and it's production confirmed for 3 weeks' time (so delivery in probably 6ish), but when I mentioned I might change an option they got very panicky as they were worried it would badly effect build date as so many people had one on order.

I think the reason for the delay is due to the way they prioritise the engine distribution. Certain lines e.g. Golf, Passat, take priority over the lower volume model like the Roc. If they find there is a demand for the the higher priority models, then they basically take the engines (and presumably other components) from the lower priority models to meet it, regardless of the demand for cars like the Roc.

Welll... I've just received a phone call from the sales manager and he has confirmed a build date for week 40, and the car should be with me for the end of October/beginning of November! Thats 9 weeks from order to delivery! Could it be that no-one is buying Sciroccos in south Wales?!??!

Snap, couldnt agree more mate, infact they are a better dealer all round imo. how a smaller dealership can give a better deal than the bigger one is mad but dont get me started on the swansea branch.

who did you deal with in port talbot mate?? dont forget to get pics when u pick it up.

oh yea can ask them where my car is aswell haha

Order done through Mark, very good to him his dues.
Deal struck through Bridgend branch, even though they said they wouldn't barter they were far more flexible on APR rates!

No, but I guess PT organise their finance through Bridgend. Car has been ordered by PT Sinclairs.
