V5C Vehicle Model

Hi all

I collect my new car on Tuesday, and today I received my V5C from the DVLA (which was a nice surprise as I expected to receive that on collection day). I am collecting a Scirocco with a Manual transmission, however the Make and Model/Type on the V5C is listed as:

Make: VOLKSWAGEN
Model/Type: SCIROCCO GT TDI 170 S-A

I am wondering if S-A stands for semi-automatic ?? If so, that means my car has been registered as a DSG! Which it certainly isn't as I have been to see the car at the dealers already!

Can anyone confirm what their V5C shows, and state which transmission you have. I just called the DVLA and the girl there didn't have a clue...

Many thanks.

Not sure what S-A means, but it's on my VC5 document and I drive DSG.

Hmmm.... Thanks for the reply. Would appreciate more replies from people who can check their V5C (either manual or DSG owners) to see if I can determine if my V5C is incorrect.

Thanks.

Hi all,

The CO2 value for the manual diesel 170 engine is stated as 139 g/km.
The CO2 value for the DSG diesel 170 engine is stated as 147 g/km.

My V5C has the CO2 down as 139 g/km, so it looks like it is registered correctly

Would still be interesting to find out what other people's V5C states.

Mine, say Scirocco GT S-A, and I have DSG.

Why don't you ask the dealer so he can fob you off with some explanation?

This is a Problem

Mine is the same i have the 2.0 TDI GT Manual but it is shown on my V5 as the S-A , i have rang my insurance company who confirmed that this would VOID YOUR INSURANCE!! so i rang VW Uk and they confirmed the car is shown as Manual on their system, so i have to take the car to a VW dealer to look at it and confirm it is Manual (WHILE UNINSURED !) then VW will send me a letter confirming this, which i have to forward to the DVLA to ammend the V5 and then i can insure the car correctly...What a JOKE !! and dangerous as you ARE driving around UNINSURED !!! so be carefull to get this sorted ASAP !

Not 1st time this subject has popped up. Correct sa stands for semi auto.
Alot of cars was registered incorrectly including mine. V5 says semi auto but mine is a manual. I know bob will be along shortly to confirm this ;)

That's correct, the error was made at import. When doing your insurance, if you enter the correct details manually, as opposed to the look up from the reg number, the insurance is correct for the vehicle, therefore insurance company cannot void it. If you ask an insurance company a question, there standard answer is " it will void your insurance"

I certainly won't be losing any sleep over it☺

The affects a specific batch of 170 TDI GTs imported in 2011.
