Cambelt Change

Hi all,

I have a 1.4 TSI 65 reg and need some advice.
My car has done 30,000 miles - I've always had it regularly serviced at VW.
I've read online that VW recommends the cambelt should be changed approx every 5 years, regardless of mileage.
I'm due for my service and am not sure whether to get the cambelt changed or not! With the waterpump, this has been quoted as approx £550.

Is it worth me making this change? I'm really not sure whether it's necessary at this point or not and would appreciate any advice :)

You should have the Cambelt changed, and it’s well worth having the water pump done at the same time.
If the Cambelt fails, it could cause a whole bunch of damage so it’s not worth neglecting.

My R is the same age and I had my water pump and cambelt changed last summer.
