Windows dropping unexpectedly

Just drove to work today, and when I got there, the drivers door dropped completely. At first i thought I might've leant on the window while the door was open, and caused the anti-squeeze to cut in. The passenger window definitely wasn't open at that point. I locked the car and went into work. 5 mins later, a colleague tells me that my passenger window is open. I went back out and raised the window, locked the car and waited 5 mins before going back into work.

Has this happened to anyone else? What did the dealer do to fix it?

I take it you mean the window dropped all the way down.

Never had this problem or heard of it before. Some peeps have had a problem with the window briefly going up and down quickly about a cm or so.

I would have it looked at, sounds like there may be a anti-trap fault.

Yep, Windows fully dropped, without reason. Hasn't happened again, but it's only been 2 days.

Mine haven't dropped since - but if it happens in the rain or in a dodgy area, it would be a concern.

Hey HantsMan - could it be that someone in the house had been playing with the remote control, in range of your Roc, and perhaps had held the open button down for a few seconds.
This would unlock the car, disable the alarm and then lower both windows. I guess that if none of the doors were opened then 30 seconds later it might lock itself again - but not sure whether the alarm would also be reset.
Its a bit poor if the alarm didn't go off when both of the windows were fully open :?

As I said earlier, when i came out of the supermarket once both windows were down about an inch. As I'm the only person in the house then no to the other suggestion, unless i some how sat on the remote, as i always keep the keys in my pocket.

The cars due for a service soon so I'll mention it then unless something happens before.

Was this issue ever resolved? A friend just came to my door and asked if I knew that my passenger window was down, I was like "Err, no!"..... Went out to check and the passenger window was half down, and the driver's window was down an inch. Whilst I was out there having a look (without touching the car), the alarm went off.

Bit concerning as the windows could have been open all night tonight had my friend not noticed :(

Hopefully it won't happen again but if it does, then sod's law it will be an intermittent fault that won't happen when I go to the dealers! I have searched the forum for related issues, the faulty ignition switch problem some people had immediately came into my head, but I have not (yet) experienced the windows going up/down quickly or the radio flashing on/off.

Has anyone had a resolution for this problem yet?

We had this yesterday morning. Locked the car up, next morning BOTH windows were FULLY down, alarm only went off when someone went out to have a look. It was an extremely cold morning, but when the car was locked the night before, it had just done about 70 miles and the outside temperature wasn't that cold. There was frost on the tops of the door panels indicating the windows had been open for some time but no idea how long obviously. Luckily it was parked outside someones house on a private drive, but had it been parked in a busy street or suchlike overnight with the windows open I'd be well peed off.

All input welcome!

When I went out to my 2 week old car this morning both my windows were down, alarm went off when I got to the door. Phoned VW immediately, said they would get back to me. This is not temperature related. Lucky that it was in my drive and not been raining.

Ive had this on my golf before because of the remote being in my pocket and the buttons being held down and this made the windows drop (oddly not all of them every time) but almost positive that was the cause.

In my 'rocco you can disable the windows being opened via remote using the MFD. I think it's under convenience. Not sure if you can do this on the older model?

Yesterday both the windows dropped down completely and also the Pana roof opened. :grumpy:

Has anybody had this issue with their Rocco?

This is the second time that we have had this issue in two years. :?

That sounds like the convenience opening that occurs when you hold the "open" button down on the key fob. Is there any chance something was pushing against the keyfob button>

I've had it happen but I noticed the key fob before picking it up was flashing its little red LED. A quick tap and its not re-occurred again in twelve months. Something inside must have jammed the fob into continually transmitting the "open" signal like when you hold the open button to drop the windows.

Don't forget the fob works at a fair distance so this happening in the house for me, put the windows down on the car outside.

Strange you should say about the fob " flashing its little red LED ". I spotted this as well. I also used the "tap" adjustment of it and the LED went out. I am wondering if the "open" part of the FOB got stuck or something. I have just changed to the other one now and we seem to not have had a re-occurrence of the issue.

I stupidly :faint: fixed it before I thought about using some radio frequency monitoring equipment I have to look at what was going on..... 8)

I will update this if we see it again.
