Drivers window not shutting

Hi peeps, wondering if someone can shed any light on my current situation as I’ve come unstuck.
Just stuck a second hand door on after my mum reversed into my car a few weeks ago [emoji24]. Swapped it over fine (or so I thought), went to test it and found out the window won’t shut. The motor clicks when I press the button but that’s about it.
Luckily I’ve got a garage the car can be parked in overnight but it’s still a pain in the arse.
Has anyone had this issue before hand and how did they overcome it?

Cheers

If you look in your handbook it tells you how to reset your windows after an electrical disconnection.

Thanks mate, I’ll have a read tonight. Do you mean the holding the button for 5 seconds trick? As I tried that and It still didn’t work.

Yeah thats the one. If that doesnt work try taking the motor out of old door and replacing it. But beware they are very sharp and fiddly

I did swap the motors but that didn’t seem to have any effect. I might try the entire mechanism next and see if that changes anything

the window was wound down before the door was removed (for packaging purposes I suppose), and that’s where it’s stayed. I can’t get it it budge.

Have you tried pressing and holding the lock button on your key. If you press and hold unlock button it will open your windows and close when holding lock button.

How long had the "new" door been removed and stored for. If key trick fails try abit wd40 on the whole mechanism

I’m not sure how long the door had been sitting around for before I bought it unfortunately.
I tried the key trick but that didn’t work. Great shout with the Wd40, I’ll give that a go tomorrow. Thanks dean.

Sorry dean, Only just seen your reply. I eventually got the window working again. The glass had got itself stuck so I had to strip the door down to free it. Alls well that ends well
