Help!! How do I remove THERMOSTAT assembly from my 2.0l tdi

Hello people
I’m having trouble removing my thermostat.
The car is in bits, EGR & Throttle Body removed
All the 3 hoses are removed and 2 bolts holding it on the block however there is a 4th push fit inlet to the thermostat that’s giving me problems!
The issue is trying to pull thermostat from the black plastic coolant pipe that’s bolted to the block.
I have removed the awkward bolt from behind the oil filter canister as shown on a YouTube video, apparently removing this bolt allows access to pull the thermostat free from the black plastic pipe.
However I still don’t have the space to pull the thermostat out as the now unbolted black plastic pipe is still firmly seated onto the block!
It’s situated tight up against the alternator.
Has anybody done one before, or has a workshop pdf of how to get it out?
I’m off the road until I can get it replaced.
