After each journey, when I turn the engine off I can hear a faint hissing if I pop the bonnet or stick my head down near either of the front wheel arches. It seems to do this every time for a few minutes then stops. Anyone else ever hear this ?. I have the climate control on auto at all times in case that makes a difference..
engine is the 2.0 TSI

Think it might be the after-run coolant pump...supposed to prevent damage to the turbo bearings after shut off.

yes, the noise is there whether the climate control is on or not. I also hear a slight humming noise as if there is some sort of electrical pump running..both noises stop at the same time after 3-4 minutes.

you have to wait at least 1 min until the turbo spins down.
if you don't want to ruin your turbo than wait before turn off. omg

So, the dealer says you don't need to sit before shutting the engine off...these days modern turbo engines can cool themselves down...and I don't see anything in the handbook about it. Asked VW uk and they said the same thing.
However, I used to have a Subaru Impreza turbo that had a sticker on the door which told you to let the car idle for 30secs-1min if stopping straight after high speed running (my neighbours loved this as the impreza at idle was quite loud!)
