The time has come to sell... :(
Hi guys,
well as some of you know i lost my job a few months back, same old situation, unfortunately the job market has not been kind to me, so i am in the process of starting my own business up. unfortunately, i cant afford any more to be shelling out for paying for the Roc any longer, and as much as it pains me to do im going to have to get rid.
My question is, i have to make enough from selling it to clear the PCP finance, and i know a lot of you who have sold yours have been offered fairly good prices by dealers, so how much do you reckon a dealer should offer me for mine? Specs on the right, but briefly:
2.0 TSI october 2008
pretty much everything standard, ie no leather or heated seats or anything
DSG box.
Also, should I wait for spetember price increase? will it have any effect on the residual price of the car? Ideally i need to get rid of it asap
Finally, any recommendations as to what to get to replace it? I need to invest all my spare cash in the business really, so can only really afford 1-1.5k to buy a new car. I know thats not a huge amount but im sure i can get something to run around in. It needs to be solid and reliable, im thinking along the lines of an older A3 or something like that.
Thanks a lot for your help
Edit: obviously if there is anyone here who is looking to buy, then get in touch

dchuraman - I like you traded my 'Roc in cos of work, my situation was slightly different however. Best advice I can give you is to visit 2 or 3 VW dealers (yes they want your car because VW havent got much free stock, and they are in demand) asking what they would give you - but play each one off against one another. I got an extra £800 by doing that - £500 more than i owed on finance so i put that down as a deposit. Failing that - try local press or Autotrader. Mine sold at the dealers within a week by the way. Good luck fella

thanks blackroc, yeah i was thinking of autotrader etc, but thought id try the least hassle route first. I hadnt thought about going to multiple dealers, simple really but good idea. What did you put the extra down as a deposit for?

Dchuraman,
You may wish to contact "Business Manager" Jon Greenwood who frequents on SciroccoNet from VW Cirencester, Recently he put a post up (http://www.scirocconet.co.uk/forum/view ... =16&t=2128" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) about supply issues.
I quote
"Used stock is still very hard to come by. We are still trying to get hold of cars. We are looking for cars with leather in GT spec and will pay £19500 for 09 manual cars £19100 for '58 manual cars and £19800 for DSG vehicles in immaculate condition to this specification. We expect vehicles to have covered less than 10k miles. For an easy sale call me on 01285 650222. "
I know yours is a '58' plate and no leather, but if < 10,000 miles and in top condition, you could still probably get £17,500 - £18,000 for it.
I know it will sell easily but obviously very important that you make the most of the supply situation to ensure you get top dollar!

Re: The time has come to sell... :(
dchuraman - I took a '57 Plate 2.0Tdi Jetta off them for £11k. I got rid of my 'Roc cos I was doing 500-700 miles a week and the 'Roc was costing me too much in Petrol unless i drove everywhere at 60 lol! I can sit at 80 (and the 140ps Diesel engine isnt really a slouch) and still get 50 to the gallon no problems. Im saving myself about £400 a month on repayments and petrol costs now - so im quite happy. Clearly isnt as sexy as a 'Roc but my bank balance is ha ha! Pop to your local dealers and see what they say.

Re: The time has come to sell... :(
thanks Skippy, bit late to call now but sent an email to see what they can do.
I've posted this on the Tech Talk board also, but i have changed my air con unit temp colour to red, and am ideally looking to swap the unit for a standard one, so if anyone is after a modded red light air con unit, let me know. Mine is the standard one without the heated seats buttons which i know a lot of you have

Re: The time has come to sell... :(
dealer has offered me 19,275 for the car, what do you think, should i go to another dealer to see if they will beat it?
Re: The time has come to sell... :(
i think autotrader or pistonheads is worth a punt, as you can be assured it will be on forecourst for £2.5k more, is that citygate in high wycombe by any chance?

Re: The time has come to sell... :(
yeah its wycombe, i was thinking pistonheads, but i dont know if i can be dealing with all the hassle of it, i coudl do with just getting clear of it really. It depends how much more realistically i could get. Ive seen one on there thats same age as mine, but with leather and options, for 20,500 so i dont think i could put mine up for that sort of price
Re: The time has come to sell... :(
