2.0 Tsi Engine rattle

Hey guys, I’ve got an issue with my 2011 roc, fuel consumption is ridiculous with a little white-blueish smoke on cold starts and when the car stands for a while. This happens seldomly though. When the engine is warmed up and I’m on the road the car drives relatively smoothly on the motorway however at idle while at traffic lights the car idles rough. I’ve got a downpipe and free flow induction system with stock software which I don’t believe has anything to do with what I’m experiencing. Oil and coolant levels remain constant with no signs of mixing and have put in iridium spark plugs as well as new coil packs with no change.

Replaced engine and gearbox mounts through VW as well as a new water pump if that’s of any relevance.

Here’s a video to how the car sounds currently

Any ideas on what could be the issue or issues :?

Maybe its the famous chain problem that is showing up? Search for chain tensioner and chain related stuff here on the forum and google it's known to be a problem on 2008/9-2012 models, how much mileage do u have?

I’m currently on 105,000ks. I was told that the revised Chain was fitted but I don’t know at how many Km’s. How would I know if it’s maybe acting up again? Are there any symptoms?

The timing chain tensioner could be failing. Or the pcv valve perhaps. It may be worth going to.a highly trusted and independant VW specialist. Dealers don't always come out on top!
