Is this the MAF Sensor? If so, should the engine cut out when I unplug it?

I’ve unplugged and have no EPC light on?
Will it do any damage if I drive with the MAF unplugged? I have a feeling it’s faulty

Has anyone ever had any problems in regards to the MAF?
I feel like the throttle response is really delayed sometimes, it’s very hard to explain but I have noticed abit of a difference in power recently, could it be MAF? Something boost related?
Anyone know of any VW specialist around Cambridgeshire area?

if its not EPC then its ABS, one or the other or both!

Nah it wont do any damage its runs the car in safe mode. You need to get it scanned to be sure its actually the maf.

Could be a boost leak, throttle body etc

So I’ve just taken it for a drive and I can immediately notice a difference with the MAF unplugged, in smoothness in the gear changes especially, it’s very hard to explain what sort of things I keep noticing without showing somebody..
I’ve just ordered A Revo induction kit, when I take the old air box out I’m going to give the MAF a clean, I’m hoping it’s going to be that!

Still no warning light though? Could it be a faulty sensor?

could be a faulty sensor.

Cleaning the maf doesnt always work but worth a try

I havent had a maf blow on my rocco yet (touch wood) but from previous VW I got lights on the dash when the maf blew

Cheers for your help mate, any reason why it would run better/smoother with the MAF disconnected?

If the MAF is faulty, the ECU can revert to a default fuelling setting, hence why it can feel smoother. A faulty MAF doesn't always trigger an EML although a fault is normally logged. One way to test for a faulty MAF is to.unplug itand if the car runs better it normally points to a faulty MAF.

With regards to a replacement I would source a new one from TPS or Dealer as it comes with a 2 year warranty and I think they do an exchange programme to reduce the cost.

Okay thanks mate! Do you reckon it’s worth giving the MAF a clean and see if it makes a difference? I’ve heard mixed reviews on it..
