Help with Spec Please & Luganos?

So after test driving the TSi, then eventually being swayed to take the diesel route (primarily due to my journey to work), I'm considering going for the Lugano's as an option when I order the car (hopefully this coming week). However, while I appreciate that the 19"s won't have that much effect on the ACC, I've not been able get a drive in a car with 19"s fitted so would welcome people's thoughts on whether or not to go for them, and how much effect they'll have on the ride of the car. If it helps, I'll pretty much be on the motorway for 85% of my journey.

Also, if anyone can recommend options to go for/avoid I'd appreciate it, the spec I'm currently, definitely, 100% not sure of at the moment is:

Candy White 170 w/ DSG
Folding Mirrors
Parking Sensors
Smoking Pack
Flat Tyre Indicator
Badge Deletion
Lugano's
Front Mats
Door Sill Trim

Finally, I've searched the forum and notice that there's some doubt over whether the diesel's now come with chrome exhaust pipes - does anyone have confirmation of this please?

Thanks

Well soounds like a good choice on most of the options, i've ordered the 19's with mine and a lot of people who have them have not noticed much of a change in the ride feel, i also saw a thread the other day with someone with the same spec as that and confirmed that it did have the chrome tailpipes.

I wound definately consider the leather as it changes the whole look of the car, or alternitivly go for the alcantara which is a mix of the leather suede and cloth. I have personally ordered the leather because i didn't know about this one, i'm not sure of the price difference so i can't comment on how much less it is.

Also ordering a diesel, i heard that unless you doin over 15000 a year then the deisel is not cost affective to you

I would say that the rear parking sensors is the only option that is a must have, the rest is personal choice.

The rear window is next to useless whilst parking and the sensors makes living with the Scirocco a lot easier.

Thanks for the replies, I've been debating going for leather for ages, but when I finally saw Merlin cloth in the flesh decided that it looked pretty decent. I did like the leather but the £1,600 it costs means that I can't justify it to myself - if I got it, I would have to lose DSG, and frankly that's one of the main reasons I liked the car when I drove it.

I have seen pictures online of the 'catch up' interior and really like it, but it's not an option I can spec in the UK (unless someone can enlighten me?) :?

Good to hear about the Lugano's though as I think they look awesome!

Not to worry about the mileage issue, I think I'll be clocking up around 18-20k per year, although I am a little sad that I've been 'persuaded' by family members that diesel would save me loads... They're right of course, I just hate admitting it! :(

I've chanced it and gone for Luganos myself with the cloth interior, I would have loved alcantara like the Golf GT but alas it's not an option for us Rocco perverts it would seem.

I plan to lower mine when I get it, hoping the combination of 19's and lowering will fill the arches properly!

Also, the 15k a year mileage issue for diesel cars, I'm not certain that's the case, diesel is now the same price at petrol. Also, I can't be bothered filling up all the time, some I don't have to do as often driving a diesel ;)

i am in the process of placing a deposit myself and had similar dilemmas a few days ago.

i was seduced by the DSG and the paddleshift during test drive as well. would be fun shifting like f1 drivers. However, i realised most people still prefers manual, so there is a reselling issue.

Also, i did not like crossing my arms while shifting.

i'd much prefer the WRC types where there is only a single blade paddle. Knuckle forward to upshift and finger grab when downshifting. One hand steering and one hand changing gears. Furthermore, it worked out another 800£, so in the end i canned the idea.

so yes, i am anti-D and pro-semi.

Floor matts - i find factory ones heavy and expensive. For general carpet protection, i am ok with those cheap ones from Halfords. When it gets stained, just chuck the thing away. Ok, i am tight fisted. i admit!

have you considered cruise control for the motorways? it would be great on the fuel side with your deisel.

for me i nearly had a crash in a deisel, when the power suddenly came mid-corner and i understeered on damp tarmac.

Parking sensor - def. yes if you park in streets.
