Hello,

I'm eagerly awaiting delivery of a new Scirocco in Candy White and want to get so detailing products in stock for when it arrives. I want to try and achieve a really deep glossy coating on the car which will make it look the business, but also something which is going to protect it over the cold winter months since it's not due to arrive until September.

I've heard people recommending the following products. Has anyone tried them or any other products and have any opinions to share. I want something that's going to brighten the paintwork and give it a deep glossy shine rather than dull it down or give it a creamy tint.

Lusso Oro
DoDo Juice Diamond White
DoDo Juice Supernatural
Durogloss 105
Jetseal
Pinnacle Soveran
Zaino Z2 Pro followed by Z8
Collinite 476S

Also, what experience have people got of using a clay bar on a new car? Do you think it's worth it?

Thanks in advance for any answers. You guys all seem to know your stuff and I pretty new to all this :)

hi pedronimus

i personally plan on 'claying' my car when i get it as they are likely to pick up lots of contaminants in transit from the factory via everywhere that they go en route to the dealer before you pick it up.

Hi Pedrominus,

We would absolutely recommend claying the car once it arrives, as Trix is right - a lot of new cars tend to pick up road film and contaminants etc. in transit. You shouldn't need to use anything too aggressive, an ultrafine or fine clay should be more than up to the job.

Lusso is our personal recommendation when people ask us our views on products... this is mainly because the products perform extremely well, they're incredibly easy to use and they're all within an affordable price range. The Oro wax is an excellent wax for all colours, including Candy White. It's very easy on and very easy off and works exceptionally well when layered with two - three coats. You should be getting around 3 months durability with two coats on, but we recommend to keep it topped up once a month.

Dodo is a good range of products as well - the products are relatively easy to use and they perform well compared with some other ranges available. Diamond White is a good wax... as it's a hard wax it is slightly harder to apply and remove than Oro, but it is a good performing wax. Supernatural is the higher end wax and again, will be sightly harder to use, but you should be looking at getting slightly longer in terms of durability - probably around 4 - 5 months.

With regards to the other items you've listed - they're not products that we have a huge amount of experience with, as we have other ranges such as Lusso and Dodo Juice that we prefer to use.

In terms of what we would recommend for a new car, we would suggest the following for your kit bag:
* Lusso Revitalising Creme - it's important that you cleanse the paintwork before applying the wax, as the pre-wax stage thoroughly cleanses the paint and allows the wax to bond in order to achieve better results and longer durability.
* Lusso Oro
* Ultrafine Orange Clay & Clay Lube

With these three products (together with a good "wash" kit including a good quality shampoo, wash mitt and drying towel) you should achieve excellent results and get that all important protection on the paint ready for the great British weather over Winter!

Hope this helps. If you have any other questions we'd be more than happy to help and if you do decide to go with any of the products we've recommended, you can buy them from our shop and enter the discount code "sciroccocentral" to receive a discount at checkout.

All the best

Taryn and Jim :)
