Scirocco 1.4 R (12/2009). Upgraded to 200hp and the owner told me it's not chipped, it's done by engine reprogramming.
It's the 122hp version, is this even possible?
Right now has 140k km's (=86k miles). Doesn't have a DSG gearbox so it's manual.
Also comes with an aftermarkt exhaust which does not pass the yearly car checkup, the owner completes the checkup by replacing it with the stocks and then replacing them again (which will also be transferred to me incase I buy the car).
The person who is selling the car is also the second owner. Reason that he is selling is because he's going to attend college next year in another country.
Here is a link to the [car](
https://www.2dehands.be/autos/volkswage ... 90144.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), opinions?
The last price the owner is willing is €10k. I have checked out the car before and everything looked well (tempatures etc) as far as a I (as a 'car noob') can see

As a heads up, there are no 1.4 engined 'R' Sciroccos; you'll find a 2 litre TFSI engine in them from the Audi TTs / S3.
What I believe you have here is a 1.4 122 engine with an R body kit on. A few things give it away, the wheels, exhausts etc. However, this doesn't mean it's a bad car! If it's been well looked after and maintained you might be looking at a winner, check the state of the interior, run a background check etc.
Just keep in mind that (at least in the U.K.) a genuine, high-mileage R could be picked up for around this price; it might be worth waiting for the right car. The 1.4 could be useful if insurance is an issue, but just be aware of what you're looking at is a looky-likey, and not the genuine article.

Do u beleive it's possible to go from 122hp to 200hp? And if yes, is it safe/reliable?
Thanks for the heads up

The 1.4 engine has problems, i have heard of many "non-modified " 1.4 with under 200 hp with engine problems. My advice stay away from this one. The exhaust swapping for the inspections seems to much to bother. I would recommend avoiding 1.4 tsi sciroccos and looking for a 2.0 tdi or tsi. (I prefer the tsi

The main problem with them is that they are too good. Leaving jokes aside check for excess oil use. I would recommend a trip to your local vw dealership for a complete check of the car, i don't know exactly how its called but should be something like "presell check" / "pre-buy check". Basically they check the hole car brake, fluids etc. While you are there also ask to see if the services was done on time, and for any "unmentioned" repairs ( if they were done at vw, otherwise they can't know about it).

I just became an owner (well not completely but we agreed and I gave an advance payment) of a 2.0 TSI 2009 with only 63k km's (=39k miles) for €11k. The car had all new tyres, and new brakes at the back + it also had a map with maintaince from VW and it also has a Carpass (Not sure if something like that exists in UK).
Also I noticed that the oil temp was between 75-85°C is that normal? (I didnt hit 90°C ). Temp outside was around 18-20°C
For the rest I drove it for around 15mins and everything looked fine in my eyes, the acceleration was mindblowing from someone who comes from an 1996 Escort with 45hp lol

Congratulations, many happy miles with your car. Carpass is the odometer check right ?
You are preaty clear but just so i understand correctly, when you sai it has a "map" from vw with maintenance you are talking about service history right ? Not engine remap right ?

Haha no it's not modified in any way, everything is stock yeah I ment the service history
Carpass (here in Belgium) means everytime the car has maintaince or changed tyres or anysort of that the VW garage will note down the km's so they can't be reversed.

Also about the oil temp is that normal? It was steady though even at full throttle

I am not sure what the official oil temp is, but i would say it's normal. As you said if the temp is constant you are fine. Try looking it up in the owners manual, mine is in german and i cant understand a word from it. Word of advice do NOT flor it before the oil temp is over 70°c. Also let the engine idle for a couple of minutes before turning it off, if you had a more "intense" drive.

One stupid question as I forgot to ask the owner but I can see that you also have a 2.0 TSI does it have a cambelt (Timing belt) or is it with chain?
Also this 2009 didn't come with a Active Chassis Control, was that an option? In what kind of setting does it then drive if it doesn't have ACC?

Chain, please check the link:
http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... php?t=9873" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Yes ACC is an option on the scirocco. It has 3 settings comfort/normal/sport. I have it on my car and i can't say the difference between them is that huge. Yes comfort soaks up the bumps a bit better, sport as you would imagine stiffens up the dampers a bit. I drive in normal mode and switch to sport when "i need milk from the market real fast and can't wait". Also the steering is lighter in comfort, heavier in sport mode, in between in normal (shocker).
I don't know how to answer your question, but I wouldn't lose sleep over it. The car feels planted in corners.

Yes I looked that also up, they are all much higher and it's not like the weather today was cold... Mmmh can a low oil temp means any harm?

Your test drive was probably to short for the temp to rise at normal. I don't think you have a problem, but just to be on the safe side check your oil level.

If the oil level was low the temp would be higher, not lower than normal.
The only thing likely to cause a lower temperature is if the thermostat was stuck open. Problem is coolant temp gauge is "corrected" to display 90 between actual temp of 75 through 105 so it's not always obvious. This would lower the oil temp as the oil cooler is a water jacket type.
But you.probably just didn't drive it for long enough. Oil temp is a good indicator of engine load and you will see it rise going up hills and lower going down hills.

Yes it's probably that I don't beleive that I drove it for a full 15 minutes I didn't stop watch it so to say. And nor did I knew the roads there only floored it 3 times, rest was just normal driving.
