Replacing the pistons before cracking

Hello everyone! ✋
So I am planning to buy a Scirocco but there are different motorisations , directly--> different prices.
I guess everybody here notes about the 1.4 gasoline problem with the pistons. So my target is a 2.0 diesel..but I have some questions:
1. All 1.4 ones have that piston problem? Or only those from 2008&2009 ,2010??
2. Replacing the pistons with better ones, stronger ones,is a good ideea? Or no matter what pistons ,they'll crack eventually anyway?Changing them even if they are ok at the moment?. To prevent pistons failure and scratches on the cilinder It really scares me this thing as I'm on a tight budget .
The budget is around 6-7.5 thousand euros + the cost of the pistons if needed. Not a big budget and probably I should not expect much from it but there are deals in that price range.
I'd just love having a Scirocco...a car that smokes Audi's and BMW's on the road. Actually this is one of my most important criteria in buying a car: faster, quicker than most of the others. So I have other options like Lancia Delta 1.9 . If You could tell me other cars like this and for this purpose I'd be very happy and grateful! But I think it's the wrong forum so ..
Hope you have time to answer to all my questions and mind me if I said something wrong
Thanks for reading this! Cheers

Not been on the forum for a while and just vising out of continuing interest. The early 1.4 twin chargers had the piston problems. I believe that by 2012 all the gremlins had been sorted - pistons and timing chains. Mine was a 2011 and never had any problems and that had stage 1 - done 60k miles when sold.

I have a Rocco 2011 model and my pistons cracked and my chain was lose too. I had to pay 4k in order to rebuild the engine. So don't even think of buying the 1.4 lt 122 or 160hp. Go for 2lt diesel or petrol instead...
