Digital speed readout

Anyone know how to change the units of the digital speed readout? Mine's on km/h and I can't find how to change it to mph. Manual says there's a "Alt speed display" option in the settings menu but I can't find it. VW helpline left me a message telling me to select a few options through the infotainment set up menu but the options didn't match what I had either. Think they were telling me for another model and guessing. They said they didn't have a Scirooco manual which I found quite bizarre!
Thanks in advance.

Settings on the steering wheel > units > con sump/distance
See the photos. I think this is what you mean?

Yes that's it thanks....but mine's definitely not got "Alt speed display" under "units". Units is where I expected to find it. It's set to UK mpg but my speed is still in Km/h despite my odometer and trip being in miles which I thought was strange anyway.

I'm guessing your speed is a small one Inbetween 2 lines near the bottom of the screen? This one cannot be changed. You need to VCDS/VAGCOM to enable to larger MPH one. As ice got on my pictures.

Oh right yes it's the small one between the two lines. Excuse my ignorance as it's my first VW and only just got the car so not familiar with VAGCOM/VCDS. I'm guessing this is something that will cost me money and not just something I can download for free to the infotainment system?!

Yes you can buy the VAGCOM or VCDS program from rosstech on your laptop and use this to program things on your car. It is an expensive program + hardware but you can do virtually anything on your car with it (if you're new to it be very careful what you change) alternatively there are people out there who will charge a small amount and make the changes for you.

There's a whole section on VCDS under The Mod Squad but not visible until you hit a magic number of posts. So get posting, it's worth it.
