Scirocco Solid Paint Finishes

Anyone know if the Scirocco solid paints are clearcoated?

Doubt it very much - my MK5 Golf in Tornado Red had no such clear coat. Part of the reason metallics are more expensive is that they have the clear coat. "Solid" paint by definition implies one continuous paint coating.

Thats interesting, you got red paint off when polishing it, I thought all VW group cars with solid finish had a clear top coat when they changed over to water based paints.

My previous cars a 1998 Flash red Mk4 Polo 16v and 2005 Corrida red Fabia VRS never gave up any red paint when polished. The last time I had red paint come off was my Tornado red MK2 Golf GTI's which had the old type of paint finish, those were the days...

Best way to find out is to enquire about a touch-up pen from the dealer. If your paint pack is a 1 bottle job then no clear coat, but with the metallics/pearls, you get a clear bottle and the base colour bottle (and should if your "solid" colour has a clear coat - I doubt it has).

My Mk5 Golf Red touch-up was a 1 bottle pack.

The white doesnt - the paint used is a special 2K paint that includes clearcoat. So its only the aint layer and no clear coat required. I lknow this cos I recently had work done on the car.

Oh Dear, i dont think you really know much about car paint, since you just said 'includes clear coat'

By definition, 'clear coat' is a clear lacquer over the top of the base colour
