Hi.

Bought an 11 plate 2.0l tdi, blue motion. With 71k miles. About 7 months ago.

Starting noticing it was sounding rough. Especially at lower revs.

Then I got an error code p0121. Implausible throttle position. This only happened when start stop tried to engage.

Ive narrowed down the rough noise to when its idling, out of gear. And when in gear and moving. When the clutch is depressed there is no noise. The noise is a ticking, rough sounding noise.

Im taking it in on monday to get looked at.

Whats your thoughts? I really dont want a big bill, only 7 months in.

Is it a knocking noise? Possibly flywheel maybe?

Flywheel or clutch release bearing would be where my money's going tbh, let us know the diagnosis!

I had a broken spring on the clutch that caused a similar noise, get it looked at ASAP, my car had to have a new clutch, flywheel & gearbox because the spring had gouged the casing.

My god I love vw.

All it needed was a service. Its driving beautifully again. A slight shudder is gone. Clutch noise gone. Its smooth and responsive again too. Well, as smooth as a diesel can be.

Ive done 9k since I bought it 7 months ago, so the roughness is understandable.

It does mean I might need to service it every 6m tho.

What kind of service did you have out of curiosity?
