Hey chaps,
I'm trying to figure out what exact type of scirocco I have. Its a 2.0 TDI BMT GT TDI model and engine number starts CFHC (I've seen CFHB models mentioned before but never CFHC models!)
According to the the log book I have the following:
Date of first registration: 11/04/2012
Make: Volkswagon
Type: 13
Variant: ADCFHC
Version: FD6FD62xxxxxxxxxx
VIN is: WVWxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.
Think I need like a week build number or something?
Aim is to retrofit Cruise control and them darn nasty yellow main headlights need changing!

It's a 140PS (138bhp) Scirocco GT TDI Bluemotion.
CHFC is the engine code. It will also be on the sticker in the boot floor and the front of the service booklet.
Not sure what else you want to know.

I'd like to know what week number it is.
I can't find it for the life in me now but theres a document on the internet that tells me exactly which cruise control kit I need for this vehicle. It said up to Week 40 2012 requires a different unit to after Week 40 2012 (or something to that same effect - it clearly mentioned week numbers). I'm trying to figure out what week my car is so I can order the proper kit please.
Having this information is essential for the tweaks I have planned if anyone can shed any light please - thanks

I know where you're coming from now but it depends on whether the 2012 referred to is Calender Year or Model Year. Model Year 2012 runs from build week 23 2011 onwards. If it's Calendar Year then as your car was registered in April 2012 it was built before week 40 2012
Just phone up VW Customer Services with your VIN and they should be able to tell you the build week. I know the Model Year is in the VIN but I don't think the build week is.
I think the difference in the cruise control is that that the older models had a single stalk whereas the newer ones have both stalks as one assembly.
You can try this VIN decoder or type VAG VIN decoder into Google for apps.

cheers fella - cars in for a 'spring clean' with VW next week to get DSG oil and filter changed too, so will get em to check then.
Mines from glasgow originally just like me
cheapo kickbowt
Wifes got a mk7 Golf GT TDI 150ps - nowhere near as fun as the rocco to kick about locally.
Are there unlockable options via the VAGCOM worth exploring? I was considering buy a proper Ross-tech unit to use on both?

Thats the link btw to figure out which cruise control kit is required for your motor
Turns out mine was produced on 07/12/11 so I need 5K0054691E
Not only did VW tell me the week number (which I've already forgotten lol!) they gave me a full print out of Car Data.
Just had the recall done and DSG oil/filter change - maybe its just me but car feels smoother! - meh placebo probably

When they do the DSG oil and filter change they also do an adaption reset on the DSG so it does feel better.

nah it was because the car was already warm bud
I make short journeys generally which don't give the car time to warm up hence why it felt better warm.
Jumped into it today and it sounds all back to oil-burning normality now - great, lol!
Are the DSG boxes supposed to let the deisel engine rev so hard? - I've noticed when I boot it the car tries to take it all the way to 5krpm before changing up a gear - Diesels usually top off torque etc about half way through the range (3500 rpm?) - so if anything it makes the car slower when its being booted.
Takes a bit getting used to DSG.
